Back to my fellow Vol fans. Are any of you worried that we are focusing on all of these "glamour" positions and not on the O-Line???

James Hurst mentioned it this morning that people are taking notice of the Bryce Brown signing. O-lineman will want to maul people for Brown.

Here's the quote for you---

"You can't ignore that," Hurst said. "When it happens to be the number one guy and having great back can make the offensive line look better so it's obviously a big deal."

Hurst will be in Knoxville soon for an unofficial visit.

Dont think for a min that Kiffin & Co. are overlooking the big uglies, he knows we need them, id look for atleast 2 very very good OL prospects to sign next year.

You honestly just compared Bryce Brown to Barry Sanders when Brown is 1/100th of the prospect Adrian Peterson was coming out of high school. I understand being excited about Brown, I would absolutely love to have him and I think he'll be a special talent. But you just compared a high school player to Barry Sanders before he stepped foot on a football field.

UNLESS, you mean that even if you had Barry at RB, you'd need someone to block.

In which case, I apologize and carry on.

Why are you on our board again?

I'm not really worried about it. Linemen are like QBs. Most of them have already committed by the end of the summer. When Kiffin took over, most of them were already gone for the 2009 class. It sounds like we are recruiting Hurst VERY hard, and I'm sure we are ringing the phones off the hook in Nashville and Chapel Hill for Crisp and Stone...

Well, the fact of the matter is that O linemen typically narrow their lists very early, like early summer, down to 10 schools and start leaning towards a school and committ early. The splash players commit to schools on signing day, the guys who make the teams committ much earlier. I think that our guys know how to recruit better than many other schools. I mean we supplanted UF as the top 10 recruiting class with a staff that was put together for 3 weeks.

The simple fact of the matter is that if you want to go to the NFL, you should go to schools like Tennessee and LSU and if you want to play in quirky spread offenses, head to Florida. Defensively, we're your best bet. Charlie Strong at UF is such a great coach that he doesn't even get mentioned for head coaching positions. Moral of the story is (5-7) UT rules and (National Champions) UF sucks. I seriously mean that. Head to UF if you want to have a great college career and get drafted in the 7th round. If you want to be awesome, play in the NFL, and have me really respect you as a player.....come to UT. I think that Kenny Powers on "East Bound & Down" says it best when he says, "kiss my A** and suck my D*** EVERYONE. Some people were born to be great." The ones who were born to be great, are Tennessee people.

Guys, while I'm excited about the future and about getting some of these skilled position players. I think we are in SERIOUS need for some interior lineman. We could have Barry Sanders at RB, we still need somebody to block for him.

Six of this years class were OL or DL line. I am not sure what you have a problem with. Was it the guys selected, number of guys selected, or what? Who did you want that we did not get?

There is an article on Rivals now about T.J. Leifheit, a 6-7 300lb OT who plans to commit in October and enroll at a college in January. I don't think he is listed in the Rivals250, but he has offers from a ton of big name schools, and it says that he plans on visiting Tennessee in the Spring. "Right now I am completely open," Leifheit said. "I don't really have a favorite or a top five or ten even. I am completely open and willing to give almost any school that offers me a shot."
I think there are quite a few linemen like him that are flying under everyones radar right now, and Tennessee will have a very good shot at most of them. Just give it some time...

You realize the cutoff line for that is 2003? The year where Reggie Bush became a Trojan. The year before, 2002 was Peterson. 2009-5 = 2002? No.

I just think this is especially ironic.

"2009 - 5 = 2002? Of course not! 2009 - 5 = 2003!"

I was just saying that I hope our next class is NOT the #1 ranked class because that probably means that we didn't sign many big uglies again.

Actually, looking at the Rivals 100, it is loaded with OL...absolutely loaded. It is very short on QB though and DT, which was surprising. I will be bold and say the team that gets the best group of OL out of this class will be #1 class this year. I hope it is us!

I am still surprised Kiffin and co. swayed Brown and Oku to Tennesse with the state of our offensive line. It was horrible last year, hopefully due to scheme and possibly to lack of motivation and conditioning. There is talent left for next year, but not depth. After next year we will be in trouble and we are one or two injuries away from being in real trouble this year.

With that being said, are there any stud junior college lineman out there for next year? You would imagine we would have a real shot at them due to immediate playing time. Offensive line is a difficult position to learn as a freshman and although it can be done I cannot see starting more than one inexperienced player up front. Very few O-Line prospects have the strength to come in and start right away. JUCO please help!!!!!!!!!!

Typical belligerent fan... I said if I misinterpreted I apologize.

Obviously if you knew how to read, you could have figured that out.

If you knew how to read and interpret at the same time, you wouldn't have to apologize. I guess that is too much for you to handle.

They may lean heavy on juco's. The whole class except a qb just about needs to be linemen. Throw in a all world receiver and take as many big body's as you can find.
