How are we going to get in the end zone against Vandy? One TD against Bama, zero against Missouri, and only one against Auburn. That just won’t get it done. A number of threads have discussed Vol's defensive woes, but the offense has been just as bad. Couldn’t make a yard in two plays in the red zone against Auburn even after the game was decided.
Maybe Vandy defense is not as good as the three mentioned above but where are the points coming from? Are we banking on Dobbs having his break-out game? The O Line having that dominating performance we’ve all expected but never quite gotten? Not trying to be a Nega-Vol but I just don’t see us beating Vandy 9-3 on three long field goals. IMO it will take a minimum of 24 points to win Saturday. Does anyone see this offense getting there?

But seriously, We should be able to hold their offense in check for the most part, which should help our own. We may be last in the SEC in run defense, but they're last in rushing offense. It's already playing out in our favor.

I for one am expecting to see great strides from the offense this week. All of our young receivers have close to a full season under their belts, 2 weeks of preparation for this game should aid greatly in Dobbs's comfort level and the timing/familiarity between qb/receivers. All of this should help the run game as well. And of course Vandy isn't the caliber of team that we've seen the last 3 games.

The three teams you listed as proof our O can't get it done are currently top 10 teams. We aren't the only O that has struggled against them.

Our lines should push their lines around. Our receivers should outrun/out-jump their secondaries. Our ST should be able to catch their STs.

It's a more equal playing ground, probably skewed in our direction.

Unlike several recent games, these will come down to coaching.

vanderbilt doesnt have the athletes those 3 schools have. not even close. sometimes i think ppl dont really do their homework. yes we have struggled but so has their offense. were last in the league in rush d and they are last in rush O. the caliber of backs we have seen are twice the runners that vandy has. i think we do well on D and score just enough. Ut didnt matchup with Bama, Au, and Mizzou. But Vandy wouldnt either and gave up 20 more to mizzou than we did. UT matches up well with Vandy. i think they will have some key guys out saturday as well.

I agree with the original poster. How will UT score points? UT averages 17 points a game (11 total Td's) in SEC play, while Vanderbilt averages 28 (25 total Td's). I would say UT is better at O-Line, RB and Punter. The other positions are either even or in Vanderbilt's favor. Getting WR2 Jonathan Krause back will be big if he is healthy. ACS was averaging over 280 yards a game passing, therefore the RB numbers are probably a little lower then they would be if Vanderbilt was more balanced early in the year. TN averages 20 more yards per game rushing with 13 less TD's. I don't think Tennessee is really running over anyone. I expect a close game with first team to 24 wins.

This is a night game at Neyland. The team should be pumped. I'll give 10 points based off that. Hopefully they surprise me and score a few more. lol

yes Dobbs will have 2 TD passes this week maybe 3

What if worley starts most of our points happened with him at qb for ga n sc.

If dobbs starts hopefully our run game can drive the field n score n not depend on him alone. He was was the 3rd or 4th string for a reason.

Vandy is not good at stopping the mis-direction. Dobbs could have a big day on the ground. They have a decent pass D but their run stopping especially when the QB is involved is questionable. Short passes getting RAC and the running game would be my game plan.

Why do we have a freshman QB, average WR group, a bad defense against 3 really good teams and people still can't grasp why?

It's Vandy, chill.

Our RBs and O line are more than Vandy can handle. I expect a huge dose of Neal and Lane. Vandy does not have the horses to stop our running game. It sounds as if you are basing a lot of you opinions on our last 3 games. Vandy doesn't come close to Alabama, Auburn and Mizzou. Just because we have struggled against those teams and Oregon doesn't mean we will against Vandy. It will be a good game with UT pulling away in the third.

If by chance Vandy does beat us, enjoy it while you can. Because it will be the last win against us for quite awhile.

Where's the offense you ask? Hello It's Vandy! How about we line up with those Seniors on OL and that Senior RB and run over them all day! It's time this OL showed why they were rated the best in the SEC and we can do that all day!
