I am scared that the FT % for ZZ is gonna cost him a ton in the draft. 79% for a point guard is terrible.

He makes those 2 and Gainey doesnt have to bail them out
79% for any position isn’t terrible. He’s regressed some from his first 2 years at the line, but he isn’t going to be drafted anyway.

Millicic was awful tonight. Not sure why Phillips isn't playing more. But, not gonna argue with Barnes. He's earned his stripes
Millicic had the game-changing steal and dunk with less than two minutes left. Tennessee probably doesn't win without that play. Plus he had a huge number of rebounds and very good defense.

Great teams overcome all obstacles put in front of them. Tennessee's basketball team overcame horrid shooting, foul trouble and a rabid opposing fan base.

This is a National Championship level team.and they proved it again last night...

Home teams always get home cooking from the officials...

I expect Zakai will make a nice living playing overseas. Chris Lofton certainly has.
Yeah, if he takes care of his money, he will not have to worry about the next light bill like some of us po folk. Hope he does well. He has been a true Vol through the years.

yes!!! spot on!! i was at a Xmas party/dinner and following on my phone. they put the game in OT and then reversed that we won. i was celebrating my $%%$ off after the reversal!!!!!!!
I cant believe they even reviewed it. They may as well take the red lights off the backboard. It was easily out of his hands before time ws out. Actually rolled on the rim a little. Either way, great win. About gave this old man a heart attack.

The review was likely to see if any time should still be on the clock after the make. Based on the earlier shot clock snafu by the officials and clock operator that wiped off a wide-open dunk for Tennessee, I'm surprised they didn't try to add 2 seconds or something.

Lost in all the excitement is the fact that Okpara never came back in. Barnes sat him early in the second half after he got his fourth foul, but unlike Ziegler and Lanier, he didn’t put Okpara back in at the end. Seemed like he might have been sending a message to Felix.

I don’t usually like to single out individual players but this goes for anyone. If you’re struggling and you’re - I don’t know - say 1-for-10 like Milicic was stop shooting 3-pointers. Clearly you’re not seeing the depth perception of the rim well in the venue you’re at so do something different. Drive and get a foul. Or penetrate and dish but maybe stop shooting the same ones you’ve been missing all night.

I just looked and the disparity wasn't as big as I thought. 24 fouls on us and 21 on them. It definitely seemed bigger.
The first half was relatively close. The second half was not. The foul disparity was 11 to 4 until 17 seconds left when Illinois fouled three times because they had fouls to give. Illinois was in the bonus with 11:18 left in the game. We were in the bonus with 14 seconds left.

What’s the ole basketball saying - shooters shoot because they believe the next one is going in. He was wide open and they were all good shots, better looks than his teammates were getting and he historically shoots in the upper 30’s percentages from 3. I’d say CRB kept the green light on for him. JMO

You have to look at 2nd half fouls before IL started fouling to stop the clock. At one point is was at least 10 fouls on us vs. 3 to them. Funny part to me is that the refs bias actually helped us at the very end because it allowed us to take extra time off the clock before we had to go to the line.

Illini literally bodying our guys off the floor under the basket in the first half and it was never called I was stunned Barnes did not go after the refs at all that I could see. Brad had one of them listening to his tirades the entire game and every timeout. Apparently that is the way to do it in the Big Ten. Bruce would have been proud of Brads persistence.

When Illinois played here last they felt ike the refs did them in at the last of the game. The coach was furious and I think sorta went after the refs at the end of that game. It was apparent he had serious payback on his mind.

This game showed something every great team must have. Talent and desire and skill from a non starter to come to the forefront and win a game when the starters could not get it done for whatever reason. And the teams celebration after the Gainey play showed how much this team wants every game.

I understand the frustration as a fan, but i can promise you that Rick Barnes did not want him to stop shooting.

That's the sign of a good player. When your shot's not falling you find other ways to help the team win. He did that. And I don't recall Barnes ever telling one of his players to not shoot if you have a good shot.
