Well, now that it's been moved you can't really tell if there is a difference between what basketball fans think and football fans think. That was the goal but we just lost that perspective because someone like you didn't get that and moved it.

Also again, learn how messageboards work.

A good number of users see there is a new post and don't take time to see what forum it's in. They just go to the thread. That's why you'll get people posting about football recruiting in the basketball thread's recruiting thread.

Alabama is by far more incredible. Most schools don't care about investing resources into secondary sport. Kentucky is all in as that's all they have. For Alabama to do this so consistently in the premier conference of SEC that I find more remarkable. There is more disparity in college ball from Kentucky to rest of the field so this is a flawed question. If Kentucky went to ACC or Big 10 or Big 12 for that matter they would be really good but not run away from the field. If Bama went to any of those conferences they would continue to easily be the best team and almost regularly go unbeaten.

What Bama has done recently is more impressive than what Kentucky did way back when.

For decades UK was the only school even trying in basketball. I believe they own over half of all SEC basketball titles. There has been much more parity in the SEC over the last 40 years, but back in Rupp's days UK had no real competition in the conference.

This.

Alabama football. The rest of the league is actually trying to beat them.

Kentucky, Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Alabama, and Missouri have claimed national titles in basketball.

I am curious as to when and how Missouri, Alabama, and LSU have claimed" national titles in basketball.

This is the kind of stuff where when we have these debates about "history", I can't take it seriously.

Schools just "claiming" titles out of thin air. We think polling is biased now, I can't imagine how bad bias had to be before television, and even worse before radio.

Alabama's and Missouri's aren't actually claimed, they were awarded by the Premo-Porretta Power Poll.

You can argue they are pretty worthless, which I don't really disagree, because I don't think anyone really cares what you did in the 1920s and 30s.

LSU's actually claimed, and seems to be somewhat made up out of thin air. I can't find anything as to what it's based on.

Making my point even further.

I mean, when did the Prema Porretta polygon poppyseed pomegranate pumpernickel power poll get crackin on this?

Some 50 years or more after the fact?

And i'm supposed to take it seriously?

I can accept conference titles from way back when, no problem.

National titles in that day....pure guesswork and that's being kind

Sounded like some professor with too much time on his hands. I'm like you, who cares what you did back then. Conference titles and rivalry games were the most important thing back then.
