Because I have pride in being from the state of Tennessee, I root for the Titans. I also root for the team Peyton is playing for and whoever is playing the Cowboys.

I find it comical that there are so many so called Tennesseans who make fun of Tennessee's NFL team and/or anyone who roots for Peyton. But most of those folks are front runners who started rooting for the Cowboys or Steelers back when they were dominant teams.

Nice troll job and I'll bite. 28 years ago the Titans were playing in Houston and Peyton was in elementary school. I set my teams across the board way back when and to this day I'm still a Redskins fan. I find it comical there are so many people who try to degrade others that began pulling for teams before 1995 and stuck to their guns no matter what.

Well, this is the reasoning behind so many Tennesseans who aren't Titan fans.

(1) Many, many people had a favorite NFL prior to the Titans moving to Nashville, so they keep that same loyalty.

I grew up a Steelers fan and stayed with them. My wife is a Cowboy fan and she stayed loyal to them.

(2) Some people recognize that the PAST Titans teams were not dedicated to winning and the people didn't want to support a team that was destined to an 8 - 8 record each and every year. Maybe a couple of times in a decade they will go better than 8 - 8 but the 10 year average is 8 - 8.

Some of my friends are tired of having to go to work on Mondays looking foolish because the Titans lost to a 3 win Jacksonville team, so they quit the Titans.

(3) Many, many people are transplants from Florida, Chicago, Detroit, New York, New Orleans etc. and they stay loyal to their former home town team.

Some of my co workers are transplants and still root for their former home town team. Giants, Saints, Lions, 49er's or Bears.....

As the younger people grow up and they have never known anything but the Titans, then they will probably stay a Titan fan. People who are born after 1998 when the Titans moved here and aren't transplants will stay Titans fans. You will see the fan base grow, once these kids grow up and once the Titans start to win again.

Colts since 1995
Always liked the Bills, Vikings, Falcons & Broncos growing up. Liked the Oilers but don't care for the Titans for some reason. I used to like the Cowboys til Jerry Jones fired Landry..now I HATE them. Also liked NE til Bellicheat came along & they became such rivals with the Colts. Will root for Peyton over anyone.
NFL loyalty to me is a 10 on a scale of 100 compared to college. Would NEVER root against the Vols!

Cowboys fan since Meredith days. However I don't support them since 2009 as the only way Jerry Bozo Jones changes is taking a hit to pocket book. Support = buying tickets and merchandise. I only watch games on TV and that's in bits and pieces.

Bill, you hit the nail on the head! I've been a fan of the dolphins for a lot longer than the titans have been around. The people I work with act like I'm terrible for not switching my alliance to a tn team.

Clearly you aren't a real Tennessean.

I get a lot of heat for not be a Peyton lover. I just shut them up when I ask why they aren't forcing me to be a Witten, Berry, etc fan and that 23 different teams currently have a Vol on their roster.

I think its INSANE to root for ANY team peyton plays on, what about the many other vols that played their heart out for UT.
At least the Titans are your first team.

Cowboys. Both my parents grew up rooting for them and passed that along to me. I don't follow them or the NFL nearly as closely as I do UT though.

It's bad IMO, but I find worse are those that cheer for Peyton and some other team too. It was especially bad when there were fans that were cheering on both the Colts and Titans.

Falcons.

Always liked the Packers, Bears, and Vikings as well.

The only team I can really say I dislike is the Patriots.

I'd become a fan of the Titans before several other teams that have been mentioned. If I had to pick one, I'm a fan of Manning and Co.

Seahawks, son. And before y'all start it should be known that I spent my first 29 years in Spokane before I moved down here. As much as I like Peyton, I friggin loved the Super Bowl this year. About time.
