Which program will have a 10 win season first: UT or Miami?

The much ballyhooed move of FSU and Miami to the ACC was a disaster for those two schools. The thinking at the time was that they would elevate the rest of the league. Instead, they've been dragged down to the level of the NC States and the Marylands.

Mediocrity.

As for FSU mediocrity,I would take the going the Orange Bowl mediocrity of FSU.

FSU finished in the top 5 for for about 15 straight years in the '80's-'90's. The last 10+ years for them has been mediocre.

Yeah, they won the ACC last year and went to the Orange Bowl. Somebody has to win the ACC.

miami has an easy schedule in a weak conference--they should win 10 this year

Exactly. I can't recall which year it was off the top of my head, but if memory serves at one point in the least four or five years FSU won the conference at something like 7-5. Just awful.

They are recruiting well, now. But I honestly think being in the ACC is just perma-second tier and holds them back.

Seriously, look at their schedule. Hell, UT would go at least 9-3 with this schedule.

Fri, Aug 30 Florida Atlantic Miami Gardens, Fla.
Sat, Sep 07 Florida Miami Gardens, Fla.
Sat, Sep 21 Savannah State Miami Gardens, Fla.
Sat, Sep 28 USF Tampa, Fla.
Sat, Oct 05 Georgia Tech * Miami Gardens, Fla.
Thu, Oct 17 North Carolina * Chapel Hill, N.C.
Sat, Oct 26 Wake Forest * Miami Gardens, Fla.
Sat, Nov 02 Florida State * Tallahassee, Fla.
Sat, Nov 09 Virginia Tech * Miami Gardens, Fla.
Sat, Nov 16 Duke * Durham, N.C.
Sat, Nov 23 Virginia * Miami Gardens, Fla.
Fri, Nov 29 Pittsburgh * Pittsburgh, Pa.

I think both Miami and UT have solid coaches now, but Im going to say the U gets to 10 wins first for 2 reasons

1. Playing in the ACC. Not only that but theyre in the opposite division of Clemson and FSU. Also VT appears to be on the start of a down cycle

2. Theyre in year 3 of the Al Golden era. Having consistency in coaching helps instead of 4 coaches in 6 years.

I think Miami loses to Florida,Georgia Tech,Florida State and Virginia Tech. Miami at 8-4 would be a good pick for the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando

Maybe, but this is a 10-2 type schedule. Plus, they get UF at home so who knows. I know UF went to aTm early last year and played well, but each year is different.

2005 ACC championship; they were 7-4 and upset a 10-1 Virginia Tech 27-22

Well, you are partly right about Florida State. The two national championships that they have won came after they joined the ACC. Not to mention, they won the ACC every year from 1992-2000. However, after Florida State won the second national title in 1999, they went downhill and have not been the same since. You are dead on about Miami. They were a force up until 2004 when they came into the ACC. Since then, they have been an embarrassment.

Usually the way the team is performing on the field has everything to do with how many ppl are in the stands.

Not when it comes to Miami. They've never drawn squat, even when they were great. Sure, when FSU came to the Orange Bowl, but that's about it. Maybe the Oklahoma series in the mid 80's.
