Which QB is harder to contain.........

I am curious to know if this thread was started (this question was posed) purely because both QBs are African-American? Russell is big and if he runs then he is tough to tackle, however, he is not a mobile quarterback. Newton is a wide receiver who can throw the ball.

I'd say the answer to that is no, but I do find the last sentence of this post kind of ironic.

Russell can scramble decently, but he is more big and powerful, so he might be able to break one tackle and make a first down if everything breaks down. Newton can decide to run regardless of who is between he and the first down and he is likely to get it. In summary: Syvelle runs frequently, Russell runs as a last resort, and Ainge should never run, ever.

Is Newton more difficult to contain or is Russell? If its Newton then we know a little more and should be better prepared.

There is nothing racist about your thread. you have only ask a valid question. Go figure.

If we want to compare him to someone I would say a post injury Daunte Culpepper, because before the knee injury he was much more mobile than JR. But now I would say they are about even.

I think it is because UT played SC last week and play LSU this week, and because Newton raised a few eyebrows. People are looking for some comfort going into the LSU game.

Yeah, give the color thing a break. It's not like they are the only 2 non-white QB's in America. Last game, next game personnel. Good observation.

The key to Russell. He makes mental errors and his performance suffers under constant pressure. His only true weakness. Show me consistent numbers a QB of his caliber should have in big games. I've never seen him have a truly big game in a "big" game. Blow them off the line and keep him scrambling.

Do you mean BLACK African-American or WHITE African-American. My Dad's Asst. Director is African-American and he ain't black at all. Say what you mean and you won't be wrong.

Agreed, the quarterbacks that have given the UT defense fits this year have been Florida's Tebow, Air Force's Carney, and South Carolina's Newton. They've pretty much contained everyone else.

I don't look for this game to be a high scoring for either team.

I dont want it to turn to the black -white thing. I know what he meant to say but it was a poor choice of wording, so lets just beat those tigers.:)sorry allvol not a response to your post.

Well, he should have a field day against our defensive line.

Guess we'll have to have a snicker's between series and play it up a notch, cause they don't have a shabby O-line. If we let him just stand back there looking around, we will then be in trouble. JR will make his plays, they just need to be limited. Their running is less then it should have been this season as well, so that helps a little.
