Which RB would you take next year?

I don't hate Phillip Fulmer, never have and doubt I ever will. Don't know him on any meaningful personal level. Probably a very nice man. Admire what he has done with the Jason Foundation. Anyone who cannot win the SEC for 9 years running with the kind of talent he's had should be replaced.

I know you dont hate Fulmer as a person, but what was the straw that broke the camel's back for you...if you dont mind me asking

It's hard to say. The drop-off after '98 was undeniable but it took me two or three years to realize what was happening. Then I got excited in 2001 but the meltdown in the second half of the SECCG erased the good vibes. Follow that with a few ho-hum years when there just wasn't much to get excited about and then comes the punch in the gut of 2005. Somewhere in there is when it happened.

Do we really need a RB? After this year we still have Hardesty, Creer, Vereen, and Poole. Maybe we land one and redshirt him, but RB doesn't seem like a big need this year.

we've finally got our thumbs out are asses and offered Edwin baker...in case you have missed the back story here it is one more time.

Baker is the 50th ranked player in the nation according to rivals...he also grew up a vol fan and had this to say in a rivals article about the vols "One team I'd like to hear from is the University of Tennessee," Baker said. "They are the main school I always wanted to go to since I started with football."

that article was posted on feb 18. of course, we doddled around...didn't offer him...didn't so much as call him and he off and committed to michigan state.

this kid would have probably commited on the spot if we had offered but we let him slip away to Mstate! it makes me furious everytime I recollect this story!

now that he has an offer though we'll see just how solid that commitemt to mich st is...I think we'll atleast get a visit...

but again due to deliquence...ignorance...stupidity or whatever you want to call it...we are way behind at best on edwin baker

Another poster who thinks he knows more about the needs of our team and the abilities of these recruits than the coaches who spend time actually evaluating these players. Big surprise. Myabe the coaches didnt like him as much as you do. Sorry if that hurts.

David Oku. I like him better than any RB I've seen that we have a chance with. Him and GJ are "boys" and GJ has been working hard to get him to come. We may have a good chance.

I posted this in another thread but thought it would be fitting here.
If I had to choose between Giles and Oku I would choose Oku. He is an all purpose back which would fit our offense really well. They both are impressive on film, but it looked like Giles had a lot of runs up the middle where his offensive line would blow open huge holes and he would basically go untouched and then just turn on the speed. However, I would take either of them or both if we could get them, which is probably unlikely. If I had to choose between the two though, it would be Oku.
