Not sure if this has been discussed anywhere else but I haven't posted in a while so I thought why not.

After seeing all the SEC games from opening weekend, which teams actually looked good and which teams are way overrated?

South Carolina looked pitiful at times vs A&M. I caught some of the game and noticed that they looked lost on some plays. Not sure if this is a case of A&M being really good, or South Carolina being not so good this year.

Vandy got dominated by a lower level team, so their season doesn't look good at all.

Kentucky blew out UT Martin but.....it was UT Martin.

Missouri struggled at times against FCS South Dakota State but ended up beating them.

Bama struggled to beat an unranked West Virginia team. Same with Ole Miss and unranked Boise St, but Miss ended up beating up on them.

Auburn beat Arkansas pretty handily, but Arky put up a good fight there for awhile.

LSU had to rally in the 4th to beat Wisconsin, but the Badgers are a pretty good team.

We won't really know what Florida looks like until this weekend since their game got cancelled.

Georgia and Mississippi State were some of the teams that actually looked pretty good. Georgia will be hard to stop when it comes that time.

Overall I didn't see many SEC teams that really stood out over the weekend. After seeing South Carolina's performance, I say we beat them again this year. Which teams might come out on top, and which teams won't do so well this year?

TAMU looked poised to win the west this year. It's only one game, so we'll see but they impressed beyond expecatations.

Auburn and aTm look to be the class of the west after week 1. However plenty can change over the next few weeks. Georgia clearly looks to be the top dog in the east. Let's see how they look after the SCjr game.

As a team, and for the whole game it was A&M for me. I know they wasn't as tight on defense, but from the kickoff they dominated. I know Georgia is good, but it did take them until late in the 2nd half to really pull away. That was a Clemson team who lost a lot. I know sc lost a lot, but Clemson was on the road and sc at home. We'll see soon enough who is for real.

why is everyone on UGA's jock? it was a 24-21 game with 8:00 left in the game,
when they hit 3 big plays... Gurley is great, everyone knew that coming in,but the secondary is not very good and will be exposed at some point and Hutson Mason will have to start beating teams when everyone stacks the box...I didnt buy into the USC hype just from the fact they lost all their pressure on the QB in Clowney and Quarles, and their toughest leader in QB Connor Shaw...

TAMU and AU are the 2 best teams after week 1,but its week 1 and a lot of teams will fix problems and other teams will have the same weak spots all season...

Top Performances:

1. aTm quality opponent
2. GA quality opponent
3. TN quality opponent
4. MSU weak opponent but dominating
5. LSU ...nice comeback for a young team

Worst Performers:

5. FL They didn't impress me at all against Idaho...$975,000 kickoff most expensive ever in SEC
4. bama They should have put WV away with the huge talent advantage. Issues with OL, Secondary, Special Teams
3. Mizzou Granted it was a good FCS team but they struggled til late.
2. SCAR Love the Ole Ball Sacs new Defense!
1. Vandy It's mattress burning time in Music City. Horrible offense!

Georgia shut out a Chad Morris offense in the second half and completely dominated a good team. They have three backs that could start anywhere and one of them is the best player in college football. UGA looked like the best team in the conference.

Georgia and aTm were the only teams that looked good to me. LSU has some talent, but they have Les Miles as a coach. He will win you some and lose you some. Ole Miss and USC looks vulnerable. I am interested to see if Kentucky is really that good or is UT Martin that bad.

Florida looked better than I've ever seen them, oh wait that's cause not seeing them is the best part of the weekend!

Georgia's offense looked good, but the D was shaky in the first half, Clemson has a completely retooled O and still put up 21 in the 1st half. Going to be a typical year for UGA will lose 1 or 2 they shouldn't.

Bama will get better, but I don't think they are elite this year compared to previous years.

I have been in the minority saying that USCe may not be as good as many people think this year. If Davis stays dinged up then IMO they'll struggle even worse. I was surprised that they're D struggled that badly but I wouldn't take their O struggles for much of the game as a sign that TAM's D has arrived. They were a different team without Shaw last year... I suspect Thompson won't get it done for them.

Vandy back where Vandy belongs. Hate it for Mason. He doesn't seem to be a bad guy but I don't think he's and SEC quality HC either.

Missouri struggled at times against FCS South Dakota State but ended up beating them.
I have long thought they were going to take a tumble. They lost too many players... and most of them were critical to last year's success.

Bama struggled to beat an unranked West Virginia team. Same with Ole Miss and unranked Boise St, but Miss ended up beating up on them.
Interesting dynamic with the egos at Bama now. Saban's ego was big enough for him to believe he could manage an ego as big as Kiffin's. Then in the background you have Kirby Smart the heir apparent who has to be a little ticked that they brought Kiffin in.

On top of that, they have a QB battle that doesn't appear to be rendering a top tier heir to the position. Kiffin has a different idea about what a QB should do than Saban's past of having effective game managers.

If they destroy each other... it couldn't happen to two more deserving jerks.

Auburn beat Arkansas pretty handily, but Arky put up a good fight there for awhile.
Auburn is solid. Arkansas... is not. It appears that Bielema wants the Hogs to become Wisconsin south. At best, it gets them back to bowl contention.... It will likely never produce championships.

LSU had to rally in the 4th to beat Wisconsin, but the Badgers are a pretty good team.
Typical Miles but their DL issues will hurt them.

Georgia and Mississippi State were some of the teams that actually looked pretty good. Georgia will be hard to stop when it comes that time.
UGA played like the best team in the country last Saturday. If they do that every week they'll be unstoppable... but they still have Richt. He will find a way to play down to competition once or twice this year.

MSU dominated a team that has won 1 game since the end of the 2011 season. So Miss' avg margin of loss last year was 28 pts. Nebraska, Boise, ECU, No Texas, Marshall, FAU, and MTSU all scored over 40 pts against them last year.

In short, you can't tell much about MSU from that game.

Overall I didn't see many SEC teams that really stood out over the weekend. After seeing South Carolina's performance, I say we beat them again this year. Which teams might come out on top, and which teams won't do so well this year?
There's lots of opportunity. UT may not yet have the horses to take full advantage but the Vols appear to be swinging upward at the right time.

The class of the SEC last week was definitely UGA. They have great talent and beat possibly the best opponent an SEC team faced. But again, Richt generally finds a way to lose one he shouldn't have lost.

a Chad Morris Offense that lost the best QB and WR in school history with lots of new faces...UGA played wel on D in the 2nd half, but lets not act like this was a dominating performance...24-21 with 8:00 left is not dominating,no matter what the final score is...

Not saying they will win the NC or even make the playoff but UGA is going to win the East and I thought so before the season started. Besides SC being a little down there is the unknown factor of how good UF and Mizzu willactually be to say either one of them will really challenge. Its at the point UT could easily claim 2nd. Its one week. SC will still be decent and UT and UF have a big hill to climb.

I thought Texas A&M was hitting on all cylinders. Are they that good or is South Carolina that bad?

I don't doubt winning the East, they would be the odds on favorite... but too many(especially on here and on TV) are putting them in the 4 team playoff, saying their running game is unstoppable, etc my gosh, they went from # 15 to having 2-1st place votes just from 1 game... there were people putting USC as a legit playoff team, how quickly opinions change from week to week..

Texas A&M and Auburn may be better than Alabama this season. Alabama's defense sucks and so does Alabama's qb Sims

bama hasn't required a good QB. Just hand the ball off and don't screw up. They do have one particular receiver that can and did catch a few balls.

Hmmm, where to begin?

A&M looked best in my opinion, better than what I thought they would.

Georgia looked pretty solid as well.

Carolina looked worse than what I expected, but to me they seem to always be overrated.

We didn't see Florida, but I believe last year was a fluke.

Kentucky looked good, however that was against UT-Martin. They're probably not as good as they showed.

Vandy looked terrible and will surely improve, but still won't win much.

Auburn got a solid win, LSU beat a good Badger team and Bama beat what I believe to be an underrated West Virginia...

I'd say the west goes to either A&M or Auburn, and Florida takes the east.

Georgia
A&M
LSU

in that order for most impressed

Vandy was the worst
followed by S. Carolina

I was also rather unimpressed with Bama. But I will chalk that up to being first game stuff - until they prove otherwise.

Right now I think the SECCG will be the Texas A&M-Auburn winner vs Georgia
