They can't be top 3, no way, unless they announced it. As far as Clay calling others an idiot, all I can tell you is it takes one to know one. He is far too condescending and magnanimous with a large dollop of narcissism for my enjoyment but at least he is off his Vandy lovefest.

Top three ratings is much different than a top three listened to program. Mid sized market with poor competition.

Sirius college radio - nice nat'l perspective that doesn't have to pander to any regional audience.

So Fox Sports 1 hired him because he is a mid sized market hack with poor competition. To quote Clay, "You're an idiot".

I'm right there with you guys. There's nothing wrong with TSR. Swain cracks me up, as does EA, and I like hearing EA's opinions on the current status of the program. He's usually pretty spot on with my own opinions.

Funny that the thread starts out with "because TSR has gone to crap" and TSR is winning the majority of the votes.

Pretty sure it's a generational thing. I love tsr and ea cracks me up. Could do without hooker

Clay Travis. If you're an idiot, he calls you an idiot. He and Paul Kaharsky are the reason 104.5 The Zone is one of the top 3 rated sports talk stations in the country. Before they arrived Nashville was a radio wasteland of Plaster kissing the Titans, Predators and candy's ass. Now if a team screws the pooch they know they are going to get called out.

I agree on Kuharsky, and yeah Travis doesn't sugarcoat, but Travis sure can't take it. Kuharsky generally can dish it out and take it when he's wrong and called out. But Travis as soon as Travis is wrong, he backtracks or changes the subject.

I like The Midday 180 way more than 3HL. 3HL isn't bad but they spend so much time talking about the dumbest things that have nothing to do with sports. I mean yeah it's better than Plaster droning on about the Braves but that's not saying a whole lot.

And Travis said Bring it On was one of the Top best comedies ever and was dead serious. I can't take anyone seriously who believes that.

I listen to 610am WFNZ out of Charlotte from 6:00 - 10:00 in the morning. those guys are great and offer national perspective very funny. I like Basilio he sorta has to grow on you. I really like Russell Smith on 94.3fm in Knoxville from 3:00-6:00 in the afternoon good local and national perspective. He has Fred White on there every Friday.
I got the radio.com app specifically for that show. I listen most mornings on my way to work. Mac is an outstanding host, IMHO.

Did anyone else hear Hyams talking about how Kevin Jumper should start for UT Basketball next season? H said it like three times.

Do Clay's balls taste salty? Nashville is not a major sports market. It is a mid-sized market with little competition. Ratings are based on comparisons within that market. I was clarifying that his ratings have no correlation with the audience sizes in major markets. He could have super high ratings while having an audience 10% the size of show in Atlanta with lower ratings. Do you understand? Fox sports 1 sucks anyway.

I enjoy Doug Mattews on 104.5 in middle Tennessee. Makes weekend morning chores more fun listening to conversation about my VOLS.

Personally, I think they hired him because they wanted something similar to Finebaum, not because of any particular talent.

SEC fans (and college fans in general) are passionate. Travis and Finebaum both say anything to stir fans up and drive views/clicks/discussion.

For whatever reason, national types seem to think that's what people want so that's what they do (ESPN making Finebaum a big piece of the SECN and FS1 putting Travis on their disaster of a CFB show).

Very, very BAD sports talk radio. I try to listen but it isn't good. Bill is awful! Kenny and Bobby from time to time are somewhat listenable.

Agree about Bill. I can't listen to him anymore. The morning show is decent

In Chattanooga 102.3 sports talk is better than 105.1 the zone. Only 4 pm through 7pm

Dr. B telling you like it is old school style. Love it when he gets on the "Tater Diggers" (Alabama Fans) Cowboy Joe for the Younger fans and Quake for the middle agers lol. Awesome show been listening for years! :hi:

Your first sentence says it all. You are a closet bammer fan.

While I agree that TSR could improve its product. It is still BY FAR the best station out there.

At the very least they talk UT football instead of Golf/Nascar or any other Boring sport that only women should play.

If you get penalized for hitting someone on the other team, then it is a girls sport.

Tony B is like nails on a chalkboard, and tries soo hard to convince people he knows inside information. When in reality I do not think he has ever been correct with any story he breaks first.

Sports Animal tries way to hard to try and convince people they are not homers. And then tries to force the golf crap down peoples throats. And to top it off, not one of their jockeys has a personality worth 2 cents. The only reason to turn them on at all is because it is funny to see in what way Heather will embarrass herself that morning by talking about something she has no idea about. Absolutely horrible from top to bottom.

As far as the out of town stations go.. no thanks, I do not want a national perspective. I care about UT, and UT only. And as far as the NFL goes, I only care about it as it pertains to our former players.

/end rant

You are the one quoting Clay Travis and singing his praises. How does Bama fit in this at all? Maybe you are a closet Vandy fan.

If you don't understand the connection of your "balls" quote and how it relates to bammer you aren't informed enough to be posting about college football.

Jim makes that show go. He has outlasted every other employee on that station. JMO I have a lot in common with him outside of age. That dude has some tremendously hilarious stories about his years doing sports broadcasting.
