Which will be worse, the talent level at the time CM got here, or the talent level next year?

The talent level as he leaves is worse. He had a nucleus of players that produced winning seasons that he could not develop and coach well enough to advance one step and get into the dance. They finished second in the SEC his first season. Now they are mid-pack and floundering with two starters that were recruited by Bruce. He has two potential NBA players that will be gone. He has no true PG on the court in 3 seasons. The one coming in is his first true PG recruit that can play at this level. Washpun was an afterthought wash out from the moment he was recruited by Zo. There will be no bigs left that can compete at a high level in the SEC, much less nationally. The only potential offense on the team for next season is possibly Richardson and maybe an unproven Hubbs. If Kevin Stallings had what will be left maybe something could be done with it. But even he would struggle.

If Harris had remained, Martin would have had better talent when he came in. If Stokes stays, a new coach would find the talent to be about equal to what Martin had since Maymon and McRae will not be here.

Next year will be a struggle to 15/16 wins. His recruiting of projects will make it a long season, and the attendance will be an all time low

Solution: fire him for lazy recruiting and just being a dumb game coach. A new hire will bring hope.

Cuonzo has methodically deleted the talent level

Some of the CM defenders during the season (not many left now) pointed to the great job CM did his first year with the dirth of talent left by BP. How ironic it would be if BP got to coach the empty cupboard left byCM!

Some say that the talent level when BP got here was great looking. Looking back, it was. However, at the time it seemed liked a bunch of low basketball IQ's, with little desire or ability. It does kind of remind me of the things being said about this year's motley crew.

have to disagree on Washpun.
Martin realized early that he wouldn't be able to crush the run and gun out of the kid. didn't fit his walk it down the floor system.
Wes is going to end up with a pretty good season.
40% from perimeter.
Over 100 assists. Positive A/TO
Martin's system will ruin any PG he recruits, including Austin.

I have yet to understand how a team with 3 All SEC players, two seniors and a junior, in the starting lineup cannot win consistently. You guys diss Jeronne but he has been good enough to remain a starter. Jarnell would not have done nearly as well without the tandem effect!! Did you ever think that just maybe the entire team's performance was effected because they had a coach that did not even know how to run a zone defense. Either that, or he wants to go down in history as the guru of man-to-man defense. Give me a break! The porosity of that man-to-man was the straw that broke the camel's back!

It wouldn't matter, Bruce can take ANY roster and compete for an SEC championship with them.

We will not hit a home run hire, we need to at least hit a triple, somebody that can recruit PEARL came from little school, so we need to get lucky again.

Pearl won a Div II championship and took University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee to the NCAA tourney.

Martin went to the NIT.

There's the difference. Pearl can coach. Martin can't.

Pearl left a team that lost it's 2 best players, and made it as a 9 seed and got bounced first round.

Martin could leave a team that loses it's best 2 players and makes it in as a 11/12 seed and gets bounced first round.

Sure there were higher ranked guys like woolridge and hall, but I would take Richardson over them any day.

I would give the talent level a slight edge to what Pearl left, but I don't think it's much at all IMO.

More important than the roster left, Martin picked up a team with 6 straight NCAA bids and several high seeds. This is required for recruiting the top 50 players. Try to recruit them without it. After 3 years of Martin we are right back where we were when Pearl took over, recruiting the players the basketball schools and top 20 teams don't want.
