So far, my favorite "bitters" is the batch i made myself. In some "Diesel" ethanol spirits (like Everclear), i soaked some grated grapefruit zest, some yarrow and or vervain for bitterness, pieces of dark red beet for coloration, for about a week. Then i reduced that down in the microwave, driving off some of the water content prior to alcohol loss. It was damn good. It's tough to say considering bitters are inherently herbaceous and floral.
Really like the Weller Antique 107 I opened a couple of days ago. Not very impressed with the Weller Special Reserve.
