I think you missed it.

He was assuming someone was getting robbed outside of the White House, and a stray bullet hit it. Not someone was actually trying to rob the White House.

I did miss it but point still stands. No one would choose to rob somebody within firing range of the WH with an AK47 due to increased security in the area.

Initially, such laws at least limit accessibility to legal users. But anyone who does not acknowledge the fact that a HUGE number of initially legal guns end up in the hands of criminals is simply denying reality.

You are absolutely right. Criminals do end up in possession of legal items illegally.

However, you seem to be leaving out the part about how they also end up with illegal items illegally.

How long has cocaine been illegal? Do drug dealers still get their hands on it?

If you answered yes to the previous question, then you would be 'denying reality' to think that prohibition works. That includes a prohibition on guns. Ultimately, people who are willing to break the law, will break gun laws as much as any other law. People who obey laws are the only ones who will be deprived of gun ownership.

What would really be interesting is to get a definative answer, yes or no, was the weapon used from the fast and furious operation or not.

I suppose that would take and act of congress to find out.

I think a lot of people, myself included, were a bit deceived by what at first appeared to be a close relationship between the TP and the GOP. Certainly, most people in the TP are also in the GOP, and surely, as with the OWS folks, there are some hangers on that are embarrassing and not representative of the whole. But the original point of the TP has managed to survive all that and I say good for them.

I've learned not to open links to posts from that source or places like the Guardian. Often a vehicle for viruses, I've gotten at least two of those dadgummit scareware things from them.

In the meantime, if that were indeed the case, it would seem to create a problem for those arguing that this is just some anti-Republican, union-driven, pro-Obama facade, wouldn't it?
