Who actually thought we would win today?

I'd agree that Washpun and Yemi have shown potential.

Yet Kenny Hall and Cam Tatum start every night. McBee continues to get meaningful minutes. Golden is allowed to brain fart repeatedly with no consequence. McRae takes tons of ill-advised shots but at least he acts like he wants to win. If he could lose his Reggie Miller complex he'd be decent.

Quite honestly I'd rather watch Yemi, Miller, Washpun, Richardson, and Maymon. They at least appear coachable even if they aren't elite talents. I just don't understand how you walk into the situation at TN with an NCAA cloud over it, get automatic extentions in your contract in the event UT get's hit with major sanctions, and proceed to fill so many roster spots with marginal talent.

After this year we lose Tatum & Woolridge so had Martin not gone crazy with signing this summer he could've singed an entire basketball squad next year and almost guaranteed each of them starting minutes. Surely that would've put us in a better situation to land a few SEC level players.

I love me some Vols but quite honestly I'd be surprised if the black curtains aren't hanging by New Years and stay hanging for the next 2yrs minimum.

Again, he had seven scholarship players when he was first hired. He had to fill up the team. Not too mention that Wes and Yemi can still be solid contributors. You want Rob Murphy to be getting Dwight Miller's minutes? You really want that?

Is a loss with Rob Murphy worse that what we've seen thus far? I'm not trying to be argumentative just practical. Why create a 4yr commitment with kids that can't take you to your ultimate goal, SEC Championships. Heck I'd settle for competitiveness against mid-majors.

We don't know that though. Richardson is going to be a heck of a player. Washpun has lock down defender potential, and Yemi could be the first shot blocker since God knows when.

Those are guys you could use. Also could provide senior leadership down the road.

My second beef which is completely separate from our roster issues is what does it take for Martin to get animated and actually coach? It's one thing to sit on the bench and observe the game quietly with your assistants when you're up by 20 but Coach Martin does it when we're down by 4 and the offense is stagnating. I'm not asking him to be the three ring circus that was Bruce Pearl but he could at least look interested. I can't count how many times this team has lost leads and Martin has sat on time outs. It's like he doesn't believe in using them to break the opponents momentum. Please help me understand b/c I'm not seeing a whole lot of coaching going on.

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt b/c the talent isn't there but our lineups and in-game adjustments don't inspire confidence.

Can I just ask this?....Of the remaining games on the schedule, how many games are acceptable losses? All of them?

Totally overblown. Dear God people, just stop.

No, I'd rather Miller play in the 2nd half after having 13 points and 7 boards in 13 minutes in the 1st half. Yet, he didn't even see the floor in the 2nd half correct? What the hell was Martin doing with him? That's one question I'd like to know.

I don't know what's wrong, but IMO, this teams biggest problem on the large scope is:

-Playing down to the competition.

We play up to better opponents, which is positive, almost beating Duke, Memphis, & Pitt. Anyone that plays with them should be able to beat Oakland, CoC, APU, but we don't. We play down to them, & they beat us at it.

Sucks. Has to change. ASAP.

Who knows. Why did Zach Rogers play over De'Anthony Arnett? I guess they see something in practice we don't.

Miller was having a career night for us and had 13 points and 7 boards in only 13 minutes and he wasn't used at all after that. He continued to play Hall who got 2 points and 4 fouls. Unreal. Miller ended up being our 2nd leading rebounder behind Maymon with 8 who played 17 more minutes.

I didn't expect a win. They beat UT last year when a first round NBA pick was on the Vols. I have come to accept that this team may be even worse than the predictions said. Try showed promise against very good teams early, but it is possible that their spirit was broken. Now that the new car smell is gone from Martin, this is the team UT has.

Animation does not equate to coaching. Pearl had a better team last year and lost to these same mid-major schools. Pearl's team did it at home. If the players respect the man then they will play hard for him. Despite the hope given by their earlier performances, this looks to be a very bad team. Hopefully they come together and play as a team under Martin's style or this will be a long year.
