Who do we want in 1st round?

I just hope we make it in.. yes I'm still not sure we make it. The selection committee may be wanting to send a message. If we get it, will we be the only at large selection with 14 losses?

Michigan State will likely be 19-14.

i hope people don't take this the wrong way, but you don't want anybody.

a lot of what's wrong with tennessee has nothing to do with their opponent. tennessee has to fix itself first before worrying about matchups.

in addition, i think we have learned by now that the other team (whoever it is) will have a chance to win with 2 minutes to go.

so, it really doesn't matter. tennessee can beat anyone. but, march is not the time to try to fix what's wrong.

go back to your hole.

If we don't get in, which I'm willing to bet with anyone who wants to lose some money that we will, the committee would be sending a message that teams should not play a tough schedule. They've pretty much sent the opposite message for years. Of course we lost some bad ones and might be the most frustrating team in history, but a top 5 strength of schedule with plenty of top 50 RPI wins seals the deal. We are not even on the bubble. That being said, I don't anticipate great tournament success for this crew.

griffith just posted a 9 seed at best and still thinks a play in game is possible....an 11 seed wouldnt be too bad...easier 2nd round game that way

I was just contemplating that. UT has an outside shot at knocking off the caliber of team a 6 and a lower 3 seed would be, if they were an 11, but not a 2 or a 1 in the 2nd round if they were a 10 or 9.

That pretty much sums it up...

in past years tenn has been screwed in seedings/regions, etc and i sure hope this is once again the case this yr...everyone pray for an 11 seed, its really our only chance of miraculously making a run in the tourney

By the way, best possible seed is a 9, worst is an 11. Judging by recent seedings, expect the 11.

According to Lunardi, where he has us is best IMO. UT -vs- UCLA in North Carolina is a nice matchup for us. We can play with UCLA and should have a ton of support. UCLA fans can bandwagon with the best of them but its hard to see fans going 3,000 miles to support a mediocre UCLA team. Duke in the 2nd round is my dream come true but NOT in Charlotte lol. I'd love to get a rematch with Louisville and then possible Ohio State.

Temple / UNC, Texas / UNLV, and G-Town / BYU is worse. Even though G-Town is struggling, they can be dangerous. BYU would be a cakewalk IMO.

And for w/e it's worth, Kentucky better pray they don't get matched up against Oakland.

i'd like the opportunity to play a 1 or 2 seed in the second round. That way, if we lose, it doesnt look as bad.

I want UCLA or Temple in the first round with us as a 10, then BYU in the 2nd round. Easy Sweet 16 if you slow down Jimmer.

After the initial month of the season, UT has been a below-average team. Were it up to me and were I not a Vol fan, there is absolutely no way they'd be in the tournament. Other than the Vandy games, they've folded every time they've played a quality opponent.

Who do they want? No one. This team isn't winning a game against a high-caliber opponent in a pressure situation like the NCAA. Week after week we watch the team play sloppy, disorganized, disjointed basketball. Frankly, I'm ready for this season to be over.
