He has a very similar game to Tyler Smith and that is one of the main reasons he chose UT.
I'm glad you said it before me.
I've seen both Beasley and Carmelo play in person in High School.
Carmelo's game was way more polished in H.S. than Harris. His defense was a lot better, and Melo isn't a great defensive player, however in H.S. he didn't have to be. When you got Josh smith swatting for you, your not going to have to be a big presence down low. That Oak Hill team may have been one of the best H.S. teams I ever seen hit the hardwood.
I'm trying to figure out who his game reminds me of. Smooth, controlled/composed, great touch, good ball handling for a guy his size. Not huge and not a banger, but can play inside and out. I could see him bring the ball up the court whenever necessary. Decent outside shooter, knack for scoring.
Maybe a bit of Glenn Robinson?
Who else?
I am pretty sure this is completely wrong. Josh Smith went to McEachern High School in Georgia (I played against him--he was in my region.) He went to Oak Hill for his Senior Year only. Carmelo was already in the NBA when Josh Smith went to Oak Hill. They're a year apart. After that one year Smoove went to the NBA straight out of high school.
Now the REAL team was the Atlanta Celtics which consisted of Javaris Crittenton, Josh Smith, Dwight Howard, and a combination of Randolph Morris. I'm glad my AAU team did not match up with them in our bracket.
I think it's more the way we use Tyler as our 'point forward' that drew Harris. Also the way we give CHISM the green light from 3. Tyler is grimy, a skilled trash player. Harris has way more finesse, and is going to shoot better. But he wants to be a Vol because he'll get all the minutes and touch the ball a lot, plus he likes to run. Tyler getting drafted in the 1st will bring a lot more Harris-types in the future. And I still think Wayne can be drafted, too. Talk about your 'Toine comparisons..
Tobias kinda reminds me of Marvin Williams. Hopefully he is a little more confident and aggressive with his shot than Marvin.
Marvin has a SWEET jump shot, but he's terrible with his ball-handling skills (I see that every night--have Hawks season tickets).
Tobias looks really smooth with his play, and if his shot is like Marvin's, then that's a plus. Seems like he can handle the ball some.
That's cool man. I live in Atlanta and go to a lot of games. I actually think Marvin's ball-handling skills are all right. I think Marvin's problem is that he plays scared and has zero confidence. A lot of his turnovers are because he is so tentative when taking it to the basket.
