Who gets coach of the year?

I wouldn't either... but I would if he wins that game and the NCG. :)

Maybe it was just me, but I didn't expect Ohio State to remain #1 with as much as they lost on defense. Someone did a good job up there.

No doubt they did a good job. The d was much better than expected. But they were incredibly talented to begin with. Shiano has about 1/1,000 the talent OSU has. Sometimes you have to ignore the media love and give it to the right guy.

From that list, I'd have to say Grobe, but I think Shiano has the edge, nobody could have ever predicted Rutgers to have this kind of year.

In conf. I would say Meyer. He survived a brutal schedule and has UF 11-1. Worked the 2 QB system perfectly. Not only did he do well this year but he is set up nicely for next year.

I'm just saying you can make a case for Tressel if they go undefeated. Who else did that?

Didn't Fulmer win CotY after the 1998 season? Should he not have won it because the team was extremely talented? A better question, why were the 1998 UT and 2006 tOSU teams as talented as they were?

The difference is that OSU was always thought to be in the national championship mix this season. In 1998, the Vols were supposed to be rebuilding an offense after the loss of Peyton Manning.

i think it's a very good argument... but shiano and grobe have very good arguments as well

I think it would be tough for anyone to disagree with the fact that Tressel is the best "game" coach in the game. But the award goes to coaches who did it "this year" not consistently

although i'm sure people will want to argue it just to argue it... too bad though, cuz i'm goin to bed

4. Tressel. Replaced nine starters on defense, got Troy Smith to lead a talented bunch through a decently tough schedule like it was no challenge. But we all knew this team was extremely talented and would be very good if nothing else because of their offense.

3. Stoops. Lost his qb, lost his heisman back, got screwed at Oregon. Oklahoma is always very talented, big-12 wasnt that great this year, lost to the best team they played, Texas.

1. Wake Forest Coach
1a. Rutgers coach

I think its a toss up between Rutgers and Wake. Which team would you have expected to do as well? And take into consideration the weak conferences they play in (though the acc is usually pretty good, this year they were a joke). If I had to pick one, I'd say the Wake Forest guy. Rutgers beat a better team in Louisville and they have that heisman-esque rb.

i fully understand your argument, but it's like saying, no Tressel you can't win cuz you also beat everyone up on the recruiting trail

I won't argue against Schiano or Grobe, I'm just making a case for Tressel. Obviously whoever wins it will deserve it in some way. You could really make a case for a few other guys as well.
