Who goin to replace Hefney

I would say the better plan the coaches would like to see would be:

SS: Morley
FS: Faison
CB: Berry
CB: Vinson/or Willingham

They want Berry at CB if we have capable safeties. We have to find other capable safeties for that to happen. So, who knows.

I heard Tee Martin's statue will be replacing Hef at some point.

So nobody thinks this Faison guy is going to be a little rusty after not playing for 8 years?

well he'll be here in January so hopefully he can get all the rust off by the time season starts

Yeah, but he's got the spring and summer to knock it off and he's a better athlete than anyone on the depth chart behind Hefney now.

don't forget Gaines should be back next year and this would give some options in the secondary.

I think I remember reading that the coaches we're going to try to keep Berry at safety.

No, they said they want to leave him at S for this season. As soon as possible they want him at CB. He came here to play CB. He is going to play in the NFL at CB.

Honestly, I kinda like him at safety...I feel confident with him being the safety net back there

I guess that is what they said then. We will be stacked at CB next year then. Berry, Vinson, Willingham, Johnson, Rogan, Kemp, and Gaines. Can't forget Art Evans. Hopefully he plays S though.

What are you basing this on? Have you seen him play or anything besides what has been written about him in the Knoxnews? I'm not trying to be a jacka$$ but proclaiming him the most athletic guy we have without seeing the guy ever play a down of football (and if you have it's been 8 years) is comical

If you would read what I posted, I said a better athlete than the guys behind Hefney on the depth chart, not the entire team.
Seeing as how someone was willing to pay him to play baseball, I would consider it a testament to his athletic ability. Seeing as how Wardlow and Cannon are behind Hefney on the depth chart at FS, it's not a stretch to say he's a better athlete than both of them.

Aren't Kemp and J'Kouri Williams the guys behind Hefney? I guess Faison would still be a better overall athlete than those guys, but Williams is pretty fast.

You answered your own question.

Ja'Kouri Williams is a special team player nothing else.

Kemp deserves a shot somewhere in UT's secondary, but I highly doubt he beats out a Faison

I did read and understand what you wrote, and it is a stretch to call someone a better athlete and would start ahead of what we have out there, before seeing the guy even suit up. It's a complete unknown how good he is...unless you have inside information that you haven't revealed yet. I understand he was "paid to play baseball", but playing in the minor leagues for 8 years and playing on Saturdays in the SEC are two totally different things. Don't get me wrong...I hope the guy is incredible and is an all-american...but he even admits he has no idea what to expect. I'm sure he appreciates you confidence in him though.

I'm sure he does.
