This is the question on everybody's mind. No matter what you might hear, there will be no answer until tom.

Between the two, Oku. Could be a nice fit in Kiffin's offense. But I seriously doubt he would see a lot of playing time as a freshman. I think he's been a little overrated here on VN, especially compared to backs like Creer and Hardesty who have SEC experience.

And please, for the love of god, put more effort into your grammar in the future.

I would rather have Lacy, but he might not qualify. Hopefully we get both.

Has anyone besides me wondered why Oklahoma is not recruiting Oku since he is from there.

I would rather have Lacy and I think CLK would, too, or else he wouldn't have pursued him.

I've heard more than a handful of people suggest Oku doesn't project to be a 20-25 carry guy and I'd have to agree with them.

Lacy may be a sign-and-place, but it's going to come down to the wire to see if he goes to prep/JUCO.

The Oklahoma boards have been saying Oku's a headache for a while now and it makes you wonder if that's why OU didn't get more involved.

Darren Myles Jr. is ranked behind Janzen as a safety, but both are coaches' sons who could contribute in year 1 or 2.

i dont see us gettin lacy. i dont believe j.jackson is coming here either. i am hoping that myles jr. signs with us. i would take oku and play him all over the field and try to create mismatches.

It's hard to compare the two because their styles are polar opposites. IMO Lacy would be the guy if I could only offer one. He's the more complete back. With that said Oku has good speed and quickness to go with great vision in the hole. The thing that makes me second guess him is wether or not he could take the beating he would get in the SEC. We all know Lacy would fit in nicely, despite his injury early in his last season.

:toast:Here's to hoping we get both, that way they can share the carries in a couple of years.

You guys realize we still have Toney Williams, right? Lightning and Thunder? Oku and Williams in the same backfield? Nasty.

I hope Toney Williams will be utilized more as a FB type. Oku, Lacy, Hardy, Creer, and Hardesty are all more promising athletes

Has anyone besides me wondered why Oklahoma is not recruiting Oku since he is from there.

I had several discussions last year when I moved to Moore (about 15 minutes from Carl Albert HS) that Oku was Tennessee all the way. I always wear the BIG ORANGE so naturally sports discussions will come up with Norman 10 miles away. The word from a former coach at CA (his son plays a few sports with mine) is that Oku felt snubbed by OU due to their lack of interest in him; he eliminated them as a player in his future as a Junior. He grew up a big FSU fan but eliminated them early in the recruiting process. Additionally, he liked OSU but when his good friend, Gerald Jones went out of state to TN he became swayed in our direction. Matter of fact everyone saw him as a guaranteed Volunteer; who knows now.
I have watched Oku play in a few games the last 2 seasons...he is small (about 180 lbs) but also is lightning in a bottle if he gets a seam to run through. I honestly couldn't tell you if he is a superstar; the potential is there along with the ego. I dont think he will play much the first year but who knows. If he learns the system, works hard and adds some muscle/weight he could. Bottom line is the verdict is still out and he has us holding our breath, I think that is right where he wants us. IMO we have more to gain by getting Brown or another big name receiver and a few Hawgs on both sides of the ball. Monte's D will rely heavily on Big time DT's and The Big Orange Gods know we need help at WR. Anyway, I am all fired up to see the breakdown tomorrow. Go Vols!
