who is better for us?

Do you guys think we have a backup plan for the OL? For example if we don't get any more four * guys do we take a couple of lower rated players or wait until next yr. We may be in some trouble if we only sign two OL's.

Rarely do OL recruits come in and start as freshman. Everyone needs to take a chill pill with the OL recruiting situation. A poor OL class this year won't mean as much to the '09 season as '10-'12.

Whi wood yu poddibly cair about tha grammer!,? You are worse than my wife......

I'm not trying to be a huge grammar Nazi. But jesus, dude ran together about 3 sentences without a single punctuation mark. I mean seriously...c'mon.

And well said badkarma, I don't think Oku is a make or break recruit by any means.

You make a good point. But the only problem is we're gonna be behind the eight ball because of last yr.'s poor recruiting, if we only sign two OL's. It's a position unlike RB where you need five or six guys; that is if they stay healthy.

I had several discussions last year when I moved to Moore (about 15 minutes from Carl Albert HS) that Oku was Tennessee all the way. I always wear the BIG ORANGE so naturally sports discussions will come up with Norman 10 miles away. The word from a former coach at CA (his son plays a few sports with mine) is that Oku felt snubbed by OU due to their lack of interest in him; he eliminated them as a player in his future as a Junior. He grew up a big FSU fan but eliminated them early in the recruiting process. Additionally, he liked OSU but when his good friend, Gerald Jones went out of state to TN he became swayed in our direction. Matter of fact everyone saw him as a guaranteed Volunteer; who knows now.
I have watched Oku play in a few games the last 2 seasons...he is small (about 180 lbs) but also is lightning in a bottle if he gets a seam to run through. I honestly couldn't tell you if he is a superstar; the potential is there along with the ego. I dont think he will play much the first year but who knows. If he learns the system, works hard and adds some muscle/weight he could. Bottom line is the verdict is still out and he has us holding our breath, I think that is right where he wants us. IMO we have more to gain by getting Brown or another big name receiver and a few Hawgs on both sides of the ball. Monte's D will rely heavily on Big time DT's and The Big Orange Gods know we need help at WR. Anyway, I am all fired up to see the breakdown tomorrow. Go Vols!

Thanks for answering my question. Sounds like GJ could be our biggest recruiter for Oku.

I wanted to add also that it takes time to develop OL players. Most of the time they can not start as frosh.

Absolutely, there is still reason to be worried. But the silver lining is Kiff & company should (is that too strong?) pull in a monster OL class next year, likely with some four and five stars that could help immediately. I don't think the remnants of our OL depth chart are as bad as people are making them out to be. I have a good feeling with Chaney and Cregg coaching 'em up now

I'm officially switching my opinion to Lacy. He's got almost identical #'s to Oku speed-wise but I have to think he'd fit in much better as an every down back. I see it now: '10 with Lacy taking the 1st and 2nd down snaps and Oku being the 3rd down back and returning kicks! :)

Probably won't happen though. If we get both on NSD, which has to be below a 50% chance, Lacy may very well not qualify on grades or Oku tears 13 ligaments in his knee making one too many cuts against UF's D.

Apparently Oku is a headcase.

I just heard from an Okie State fan that Oku despises Oklahoma. He kept calling OU's coaches over and over just begging for an offer basically. He finally got it, and then told them to forget it, he was never coming.

And the reason he's interested in Auburn now is 2 coaches from Oklahoma State, Trooper and Luper, both came to AU.
