If you had to pick one school that you do not want the Vols to have to compete with for a high schooler inside the state of Tennessee, who would it be?

Probably Clemson, although Arkansas has been making a lot of inroads for the 2019 and 2020 kids. Alabama is always a threat in the mid-state area and somewhat in Memphis too.

Historically, it's been Ole Miss and Alabama. Ole Miss in West TN and Alabama in Middle TN. Now we have to worry about Clemson, and to a lesser degree Georgia.

Most definitely been Ohio State & Clemson over the last several years as our biggest threat.

Edit: I voted OSU & Clemson

Who cares? Is that an option?

Continue to raid Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia.

Middle, east, west, makes no difference. Over the years of my lifetime watching and reading sports news from Memphis and Nashville, when Alabama has come calling for a guy they wanted, the usually got him. They have always been very selective when it comes to Tennessee players, coming after only the guys the need or really want, not a "maybe guy". I have noticed the same holds true as far east and then north to Ky. from Chat town. The number of guys is never very large and not every year, but when they come they usually get what they come for.

LSWho has gotten a few lately as has Clem&son. I don’t remember Ohio St getting too many but they’ve been mentioned a lot here...we have to watch for GA AL and MS

Tennessee signed only 12 out of 40 of it's 4* and 5* from 2015 to present. miss state recently plucked a 4* DE outta Nashville. Pruitt & Co have some proofing to do, hope they can.

Or they could just sign 4 and 5 stars out of other states.

The last 8 years, the biggest force pulling against us for in-state kids was the record of Derek Dooley and Butch Jones coached teams.

If we win big, the in-state recruiting will take care of itself....

Were Pruitt even really that interested in the Miss st kid?

I think CJP goes after the players he thinks can help Tennessee win football games. If they are 5* OK and if they are 3* OK. He will get the majority of the ones he wants regardless of the State from which they come.

Why thats just madness...or how a coach becomes and stays successful.

But he has stated that we will get a Top Ten class.
That means fewer 3 Stars and more 4.

I wonder if anyone has thought about building a wall around the state for recruiting?

Ask yourself why people came outta the woodwork to love Clemson. They beat Alabama. Let this Tennessee Volunteers team come together and play hard, fundamentally sound football with solid well thought clock management and personnel management, believing they can and will beat Bama, and it will happen. When it does...recruiting explodes, all college football fans see you in a better perspective, Sports commentators talk about Tennessee without the apologetic body language and smirks. It all gets better after that mountain gets climbed. It'll happen!

Our biggest opposition is ourselves, the SEC West in West TN, OSU in Middle TN and Clemson in East TN.

Once we reestablish ourselves and quit regressing we will take over the state as well as North Georgia/Carolinas.
