Who is our Quaterback next year..

Worley was playing well but he has a lower ceiling and less playmaking ability than Dobbs and Fergy IMO, based on what I've read and heard all year long. Worley was the day 1 starter because he understood the offense, could get them in and out of the right/wrong calls and protections..... not because he was a more talented qb with better playmaking ability.

IMHO, it's either Ferguson or Dobbs depending on who shows the better ability to command the offense. I have to believe that with an offseason and another spring and fall camp under their belts, that they separate themselves from Worley based on physical talent. They should close or eliminate the "mental gap" part of the position that Worley had on them this past season.

If Worley beats them out then we know neither of those guys are the right guys to play QB at UT.

I will tell you 1 thing for sure if he beats them out we are FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.

4 or 5 years ago we had NFL type QBs toting clipboards around now it seems like we cant get a decent QB, as the old saying just manage the game.

Dobbs had passsed him up before the injury. Dobbs out performed him in every game situation. Before Dobbs passed him they were tied. 2a 2b.

Dobbs has the leg up on being the starter.

He started against way better teams than Worley and didn't have the guy (North) who won the SC game and was our only threat for the last two games. Playing better competition than Worley and a true fr to a jr he completed 60 % to 55% and 20 less yards a game.

Comparing him to RF he also has an advantage. He had already passed him up on the depth chart. Every scrimmage or game situation he outplayed him. Now he has the experience edge also. Played well for a true fr against three top five teams. His hs film was also more impressive vs way better comp than RF played.

I wouldn't be surprised if any of the three start though.

If Dobbs is the starter we're in deep do do.

I dont think the QB we need is on the roster. I keep hoping a Juco guy that knows how to win will sign this year and just take over in spring practice.

Just for arguments sake, what has anyone ever seen out of Ferg to warrant him leading this team? Please do not bring up high school stats and ratings, means nothing. Worley and Peterman were both highly recruited and top prospects, how has that panned out. Now having said this, I would really like to see Ferg become the next great qb for the Vols, however I for one have not written Dobbs off. The kid came in under tough conditions, played through a couple injuries, leg and hand and still showed some positive signs. Regardless of who gets the job, I hope that their is enough talent at qb to force continual competition.

Go Vols![/QUOTE

Didn't have to see Ferg play. Watching the other QB's convinced me that Ferg will most likely be the starter.:)

You are right we haven't seen what Ferg can do in game situations, however the same could've been said about Dobbs. Fact is we have seen Dobbs, Worley, and Peterman and none of them took the job and ran (all for different reasons). For what it's worth Worley was managing the offense and was seemed to be getting better before his injury.

Ferg is the only one we don't know anything about when it comes to in game situations. If he wins the job in the spring/fall then CBJ and company did see something.

With Worley, we beat South Carolina (now ranked #6 in the country), without worley, we lost to Vandy, Auburn, Mizzou and barely handled Kentucky.

So I'm going to say this job is Justin's until he graduates -- then we can figure out who's NEXT.

I agree it seems like it is Worleys job to lose. For it being his first yr really seeing some playing time and having to learn a new offense he really didnt do all that bad in my book. Hopefully with the experience that Worley and Dobbs got one of them will step up and take charge of this team

The best thing Worley ever did for his career was get hurt...defending his playing time early in the season,I was way more alone :)

I think we see an interesting battle this offseason and Worley or Ferg starts out the season, but Ferguson finishes the season off.

CBJ said the job is wide open but I would be shocked if Worley doesn't win the job. He has the most experience and that helps a lot with young receivers.

I think it is wide open and from a talent level you have to think it comes down to Dobbs and Ferguson.
