In New Hampshire, Obama welcomed a "vigorous" debate as part of the democratic process but said people should talk "with each other and not over each other."
He criticized "wild misrepresentations" by special interests trying to undermine health-care legislation before Congress.
In particular, Obama rejected rumors that a health care bill passed by a House committee included setting up "death panels" to decide whether senior citizens get treatment. He called spreading such rumors a longstanding practice by opponents of health care reform, such as "those who profit under the status quo."

i also find it humerous that the source for these protest must of course be special interest people despite the fact that the overwelming majority of americans agree with them and that obama is filling these "town halls" with union thugs who of course will benefit the most from our chief socialist.

You're not seriously trying to pass off anything from out chief misrepresenter as anythin but political rhetoric. I actually believe Hillary before this clown. He's the least trustworthy politician of my lifetime and that's a high hurdle. He's a true media manufactured president ad has carried it over to his job.

Most of the people attending these town hall forums are every day citizens. For the republican plants that are not.....they are evenly countered by the union goons that are also in attendance.

Please LG grow up and see it for what it is. You can believe the line issued by Obama (after all he hasn't lied to us before right?) or you can choose to see it for what it is. The left and the right are sending people to the town halls, what is lost in the mix is the 85% of concerned citizens who have real fears and real reasons to oppose this bill. The least of those reasons are the phony "Death Squads" which has been picked up by the left and used to minimize the legitimate issues and fears people have.

What's the point of this thread? Is that the people protesting/asking questions aren't sincerely concerned about the HC plan?

If someone is behind them isn't someone behind those in favor of the bill? Interestingly enough, the pro-HC bill supporters all have professionally made signs (wonder where they came from) while the "protesters" have handmade signs.

Does questioning a political agenda automatically mean that "somone" is behind that questioning?

Must have been talking about the Volnation political forum that continues the practice precipitously.

I think Obama actually read what was on the teleprompter - the source of wild mischaraterizations.
I'll tell you what. You pubbies are a little too obsessed with this teleprompter stuff. After 8 years, I'm just glad to have a President that can read.

(There's your setup, now you can say......No, I'm against Presidents that lie through their teeth about their Socialist agenda, attempt to stifle anyone not blindly following said agenda, and who are completely unqualified for their job.)
:good!:

Answer a question for me. Why is he having to try so hard to sell something that presumably, everyone wants and needs? If it is such a problem, why he is having such a big problem selling the cure? A guy that rose from nowhere, could charm anyone. Charmed his way right into the White House. Now he has trouble selling an idea for such a dire need. What is the deal?

Wow...way to shoot for the stars. And I love the "I'm not going to criticize Obama because ANYTHING is better than Bush" attitude....Bill Maher would be proud.

a caller to a talk show made a very good point. Much of the criticism of the "astroturfers" is that they're being bused in from outside of a congressman's district, thereby cheating out actual constituents from having face time with their elected representative.

Well, the caller wondered, how many of these politicians bitching about "outsiders" crashing their events took campaign donations from folks outside of their districts?

the answer is pretty much all of them, so they really have no room to complain, do they?
