Who is the fastest WR next year?

I would rather have a collection of competent receivers with average speed that know how to run routes and target the football with their hands than one with amazing speed but has to jump for every pass and tries to catch with his arms instead of using his hands. Speed is overrated at the receiver position imo.

Speed is inarguably a great asset. It can make however good you are even better. For instance Randy Moss would absolutely have still been a great wr if he was a 4.5 guy. He was a terror because he could do all that AND fly.

Upshot is raw speed is a singular athletic aspect, like strength or vertical leap. There's basically no scenario where more isn't better but if you aren't good at actually playing football the other attributes aren't going to make too much difference.

How fast is Boo Carter? He will be our top receiver. He is only staying because he demanded to be on offense. Happy for kid.

Yep, more recently Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua are 4.6 guys and seem to be doing fine.

I often wonder about our speed at the WR position. I feel like Hyatt’s speed in 2022 really opened up so much. Obviously it’s not the end all be all (Barion Brown)

Who do you think is our fastest WR?

Squirrel is gone.

Matthews has impressive 4.4 speed but both him and Staley have stuff in their scouting reports about good speed but not amazing speed.

Just curious what people think. Top end speed isn’t even the most important thing for a WR but I do love speedsters.

If it’s anything like this year, probably the first to the portal.

Squirrell never displayed game breaking speed. Just using a 40 time is useless. Playing speed is vastly different. I have no idea who will be the fastest.
True. Everyone thought Leonard Scott would dazzle with his speed. Didn't happen. Some doubted Jerry Rice due to his 40 time, too. Pretty good career for him I'd say. Juan Jennings was no burner, but I'd kill to have him there for Nico. It's a matter of evals. No faith in this staff there.
