Don't you think Bear Bryant's flat-out dominance of the SEC throughout the 1970s was aided and abetted by the fact that Tennessee and Auburn were being coached by Bill Battle and Doug Barfield? If Tennessee had hired Johnny Majors in 1970 and Auburn had hired Pat Dye in 1976,
things are a lot different.
