I don't care. He is an incumbent. I look at his record in office not his "mentors" for the basis of my judgement.

I will say, I wish he was more honest about being a socialist. I understand why he doesn't for political reasons, but it makes him that much more disingenuous.

My point was to say you care a lot about economic freedom. That is admirable. However, the Republicans love to tell you how you ought to live. That is large encroachment of personal freedom. If you care about all types of freedom, why are you a conservative?

There is nothing wrong in and of itself with a monarchy. If you have the right person to head the moarchy, it is the most efficient and preferable form of government.

Lost of freedom and moarchy are not mutually exclusive. The philosopher king or philosphical oligarchy would be ideal.

The classical definition of a philosopher king is one who is disinterested in his own sake and in money and one who rules for the good of his people.

However, even Plato said that his form of utopia was not sustainable for a long duration.

I guess to answer your question, it is different because philosopher kings are not (and would not be) part of a corrupt oligarchy like a lot of politicians tend to be.

His record in office is one of complete and utter failure.

When he surrounds himself with socialists and tries to implement socialist programs at every turn, one must surmise that is just what he intends, no matter how much he denies it.

There is no economic freedom under socialism.

Just how do the republicans tell you how you ought to live any more than the dhimmirats do?
