It depends on where Pearl ends up. He likely will end up sitting out a year and returning via the C-USA coaching ranks.

Pearl actually has to get another D-1 job before he can go back to the tournament. It isn't a foregone conclusion that he will. In fact, history dictates that the odds are overwhelmingly against him if he gets a show-cause order, which history also dictates will happen.

I think we will win 18 to 20 games next year. We will have a much easier schedule and will not be in the NCAA but the NIT. IF WE GET THE RIGHT COACH!!!!

You have to have a job to make the tourney. Bruce won't for atleast two years. Not a coaching job anyway.

The 12 people that voted Bruce Pearl should be sterilized.

That may be a bit harsh, but I can't see how people would vote for Bruce. We may very well be staring in the face of a long dry spell from tournament play. However, you can't win the lottery if you don't have a ticket, and by fielding a team in each of the coming years, at least UT will have their ticket. There's no guarantee that Pearl will ever coach D-1 basketball again and even if he does it could easily be 5-6 more years before he lands a job. I would like to think UT could at least contend for a tournament berth within the next 5-6 years.

Unless they absolutely bomb the hire, Tennessee will be back in two years.

Bruce Pearl or Tennessee?
BP without a doubt. The probability of him and Brandy buying two tickets are far greater than an entire basketball team having to pay for tickets and travel to attend a game. Question was just too easy, lol.

Therein lies the problem. Mike Hamilton's track record shows that he has a 1 in 4 chance of making a good hire in a major sport. Fortunately, his one good hire was in basketball.

Well Mr Sterilization how do you propose we do this when our recruits are jumping ship as we speak?

He's right about getting the right coach. In basketball you're always only one great recruiting class away from being a great team. Just ask Kentucky. Basketball is the one sport where freshmen can come in and be a dominant force from the moment they step on campus.

so you think will be in the Tourney in 2 years?

Sure, if they make a good hire. Bruce won't be allowed to coach for probably two years and then I don't think his job prospects will be good at all after that. In other words, he's not getting a job where he will be able to compete for tourney births immediately. Bruce won't be back in the tourney for a while if ever.

bruce will have a job as soon as he's permitted to coach.

It'll be a low or mid-major program if it even happens. A power conference program isn't going to hire someone with his baggage.

a major conference program will hire him. most programs like winners and by that time this situation will have blown over. people will realize that while he was actually fired for the lying and the coverup, in the end the violations were not at all major.

Not one that will be anywhere near ready to reach the NCAA tourney.

The lying to the NCAA, crying about it, then covering up another secondary violation is probably going to be a deterrent.
