Unless they absolutely bomb the hire, Tennessee will be back in two years.

i think that u understate how extremely complicated this situation is... even if tennessee hires a good coach it is no gaurantee that they are even competetive for the forseeable future. Look at Indiana, a blue blood in basketball, three years later they are still bottom feeders in the big 10.

That's pretty much the situation he stepped into when he was hired at UT. If he gets a major college job, he'll have them winning in pretty short order.

I can envision more than one scenario that involves Tennessee still making it in next year. Wonder what the disciples of Pearl will say if that happens.

He's right about getting the right coach. In basketball you're always only one great recruiting class away from being a great team. Just ask Kentucky. Basketball is the one sport where freshmen can come in and be a dominant force from the moment they step on campus.

thats kentucky no comaprison with tenn imo

Indiana was in much deeper **** than Tennessee.

Well Mr Sterilization how do you propose we do this when our recruits are jumping ship as we speak?

New coach, new recruits.

Its not like Pearl was going to be able to recruit anyway, what with not being able to coach for at least a year.

Not arguing with you, but if Tenn dont absolutely hit a home run with the hire, i think you're looking at years of rebuilding and maybe a coach or two after this one.

What's a home run hire? This ain't football. You can make a turnaround with one or two classes. If you take multiple coaches to turn it around, you are doing it wrong.

dude look at all the schools that have hired recently, only a handful have success after the first year. LSU, Wake Forest, Indiana, the list goes on and on and they dont face the ncaa breathing down the neck of the university like ut with the exception of indiana. If you dont see that ut can become insignificant in the sec you are really delusional. Heck look at UK and the gilespi hire. The wrong hire here and ut is bottom for a long while.

UT already did it once, with Buzz recruits.

I can't speak for anyone else, but, I would be thrilled to
make it back to the dance. I know our history to well to
expect another miracle.

Have you forgot what our record was the year before Pearl got here.

No I haven't. I also haven't forgot how terrible of a coach the guy before Pearl was. After all, it's not like the roster Pearl inherited had a current NBA point guard and one of the best 3 pt shooters in NCAA history.:whistling: Don't act like the cupboard was bare when Pearl took over. It wasn't.

Tennessee and the fact that a third of the people said Bruce Pearl show how oblivious our fan base is when it comes to basketball.

a major conference program will hire him. most programs like winners and by that time this situation will have blown over. people will realize that while he was actually fired for the lying and the coverup, in the end the violations were not at all major.

When other schools see that he will leave behind a worse roster than the one he inherited and couple that with a show-cause penalty, he won't be touched with a 1000 foot pole by anyone who wants a nationally competitive program. He's the next Kelvin Sampson, except there won't be a job waiting for him in the NBA.
