Who starts? Hubbs or Josh?

Playing PG really zapped McRae's energy and it disallowed him to create offensively last year. It was a disservice to him to make him run point. it led to a lot of his TOs and hurt his confidence IMO. If all we need them to do is get the ball up the court, I say learn 2-3 zone and start Lopez. Assuming we sign no one.

Agree on the first part, but can't agree on Lopez. We have to have a better option than that. Also, Martin will never go 2-3 zone. It simply isn't in his make up. I expect us to bring in someone to help at point and they and Thompson will carry the load next season with Lopez a back-up for both.

What? Why does everyone keep saying McRae can't run PG? He's an athlete, he can do whatever he pursues. I'm sure he was the one who nominated himself to run the PG (knowing Lopez wouldn't do a good job). So McRae who wasn't trained in the PG spot at all, just decides to run PG in the middle of the season - of course he isn't going to do incredible. But if you give him an offseason to really work on his handling/passing abilities he could be a HUGE threat.

I still think though that Thompson or Lopez should have just as a fair of a chance to themselves worthy of a starting spot. Hey, who knows maybe Moore might get the starting spot.

Ideally, we'd have a better option, but what if we don't? That's my only point. If it's between playing Lopez extended minutes at PG to keep McRae available on the wings, and playing McRae at PG, I'm afraid we have to roll with Lopez.

Maybe Thompson is able to come in and give quality minutes, and/or we can add someone. That's the ideal scenario at this point.

The zone suggestion was in reference to Lopez'a inability to stay with opposing PGs. I realize Martin will never play his team extended minutes in a zone setup. I just don't agree with it. It's an easy to learn, effective tool that he refuses to utilize.

If we get no point guard, we'll see a ton of Jordan and Josh bringing the ball up as an almost equal backup. Hubbs will still probably get the same minutes I would guess.

That's what I see. Lopez will probably get more minutes but I'd almost expect just as many coming from Jordan and Josh and see them split the wing position. It would be a mess. We need a PG.

Been out of the loop for a while, sorry if this has already been posted / discussed. Cuonzo was on the radio this morning and said he didn't want McRae playing point. Hallelujah. Talk about not putting your guys in position to be successful.

Use some combo of Moore, Richardson, Lopez, and Thompson. Get the ball up the floor without turning it over, and let the other four positions compensate for lack of effectiveness at the point. It'll work...until the other team starts pressing.

I agree. McRae at PG is a recipe for disaster because it disrupts his offensive flow, and he is TO prone whem being forced to make decisions with the ball. That in turn kills his confidence.

I didn't hear that about Jarnell? He played for thr USA U18 team last year

Yeah remember that. CCM brought it up briefly on the (throat clear) doc, jeff, and heather show, when talking about their camps. He said Stokes wouldn't be able to make it due to USA basketball committment. But when I google it, I find nahdah.
