Who's to say a pocket passer is the best kind of QB out there? I'd say Vick is at least as good of a running QB as Manning is a passing QB.

You're comparing Peyton's 2,169 yards with 17 TD's passing alone to Vick's 1,524 yards with 12 TD's rushing and passing combined?

I'd say most of the best NFL QB's ever to play the game were pocket passing QB's. This is the NFL. Never has a rushing QB ever won a Super Bowl.

Well, there's certainly more issues to it than that. The idea of a rushing QB in the vein of Mike Vick has only been around for 10-15 years. It's not as developed in the game as the idea of a pocket passer.

As far as your yards comparison, comparing rushing yards vs. passing yards is apples and oranges.

I hate to bring this up . . . but Vick has gotten just as far in the playoffs as a certain pocket passer who shall remain nameless.

Comparing wins and total yards is apples and apples. This isn't about who the best running QB is, it's about who's the best period. Randall Cunningham was a good running QB, Steve McNair used to be, and McNabb and Steve Young, too. But they could also pass the ball.

This is what we both can agree upon, though. Vick's emergence has changed the whole atmosphere of the NFL QB position. He's the 1st QB to fit in to his own category. In years to come, we may see more like him come along like Vince Young or some others. It's pretty much a brand new "style" of QB play. Don't get me wrong, it's very exciting. But right now, if I were a fan, I'd rather rely on a QB who could pass the ball downfield, hand the ball off the S. Alexander, Tomlison, Edgerrin, etc. That's the RB's job since the history of football began. You have to have balance. When Vick settles in, gets a few targets besides Crumpler to throw to, gets his passing game up with everyone else's, then he'll be even more of a threat. But right now, I'd rather have several other QB's on my team.

I'm not disagreeing with some of your points. I like your point about Vick being part of a new "mold." But it might take a couple of years. Just think, when his passing game improves, he'll even be more dangerous because defenses will have to defend the pass and run.

Yes, I like watching Vick play and break ankles, but I don't think he's the best NFL player.....Yet..

Being a biased Brady fan, I have to keep my comments to myself. :birgits_giggle:

With that said, I have to give props to Vick though. The guy knows how to win :whistling:

I'd like to see how many INT's Vick has. Last I knew he throws many of them. I want a QB that has Vick's legs and Peyton's arm and brain. Vick can scramble and throw pretty far. But he is very innacurate and makes some very bad decisions. He is dang exciting though. I'd have to say more-so than Peyton.
