I was a big anti-fulmerite this year after we lost to Florida for the fourth time in a row, but I don't think what Auburn did to Tuberville was justified.

Looking back at the past five years:

13-0
9-3
11-2
9-4
5-7

Thats 47-16 over a five year span. 74% wins.

Now lets look at the rivals and major SEC teams head to head records.

Georgia 2-3
Alabama 4-1
LSU 2-3
Florida 2-0
Tennessee 3-0

Thats an overall record of 13-7 against the other five best teams in the SEC in the last 5 years.

I definately do not think firing Tuberville was justified. What are yall's opinions?

I think it was unjust.

How can AU fire a guy who beat Bama 6 times in a row?

Thats NEVER been done before, and most likely wont ever be done again.

After seeing those numbers, I think they should have given him at least 1 more year...

the writing was on the wall a couple yrs ago..all they needed was this mediocre season..definitely unjust..Tubs will land on his feet..good coach.

he got hosed, but 5-7 seasons should do that to you at a program like Auburn's.

I just started a thread indicating he was not fired. He resigned -- by choice.

is that the case. I haven't looked into it at all or paid any attention.

If he departed, I fully understand with the Petrino shenanigans from a few years ago.

Not justified! It didn't matter though, the BIG MONEY at AU wanted him gone and was waiting for the chance.

so did he negotiate to keep the buyout?

AD says that they (Auburn) decided it was the right thing to do in exchange for Tubbs sticking around for a year to help with the transition. Made it sound like they offered to him.

They told him if he was going to another school, there would be no buy out but he wouldn't have to pay to leave.

The AD says it was a complete surprise and that he asked Tubbs to reconsider 3 times.

me and you both know that's complete b.s. they've been wanting Tubbs out for 5 yrs. do you not remember 5 yrs ago the yr before they went 13-0 they were calling for his head? i watched the press conf, and even the media down there is saying what the AD said was bs, and that the AD should be replaced

I understand. Situation makes much more sense now.

Well, it's what they are saying. At the beginning of the week they asked Tubbs how long he was looking at and he said 5 years (to get his kid through HS). The AD agreed with the 5 years then says the resignation caught him completely off guard.

I don't believe everything the AD said but he did set himself up for getting busted by Tubbs if it isn't true.

The also indicated $$$ is no object in the coaching search.

Exact words were "no financial constraints"

really?

Florida
Tenn
Georgia
Bama
LSU

all are more prestigious and better programs.
I'm not sure the point. Mine is that going 5-7 should get you hammered at Auburn. Should also get the coach hammered at all the programs you listed.

5-7 one year out of 10 shoudl get you hammered? phil didn't get fired for that in 05 and i'd argue tenn is a much better program.
