Who thinks the firing of Tubs was unjustified?

Who do you think they could get. I'm really not sure there are a ton of good options that are realistic for Auburn.
I'm not certain today, but if there are no "financial obstacles," the sky could be the limit.

I think its a bad move, Tubb's record against top 10 teams is obscene. He's a good coach that had a bad season. Not to mention if UA was 8-4 this would not even be happening.

I'm assuming we reached out to most of those dream guys, and found out what we really could get. I'm sure the money is a great tool, but I'm not sure Auburn is going to get what they want.

I don't think we reached out with big money, like that available with the new contracts.

The other thing is that sometimes one coaching search loosens up another. I think once Rich Rod considered leaving WVU for Bama, he was more likely to jump when UM came along.

The same might be true with Davis - he may have given some thought to the UT job and is softened up for the Auburn push (if there is one).

From what I have heard they have plenty of financial obstacles already to deal with.

With that TV contract money coming in, if they have financial obstacles they have much bigger issues that a vacant head coaching position.

I think a lot of programs paint their financial situations as more grim than what they are, considering they are supposed to be non-profit.

is that the case. I haven't looked into it at all or paid any attention.

If he departed, I fully understand with the Petrino shenanigans from a few years ago.

For the sake of spite, I'd have walked after the '04 season.

"You wanted Petrino that badly? Let's see him match this record."

If you look at his record he was bascally a 5-3 guy in conference play except for two seasons. He had more average seasons than he did execptional seasons so I say he is mediocre. I guess it depends on your expectations of winning whether or not he should have been fired.

I agree there is probablly not a better coach on the market but he is not that great. A lot of people are living in the past on the 13-0 season but one exceptional season does not make a coach (ie - CPF)

The decision to get Franklin was absolutely stupid. Still, I hope Auburn gets what they deserve. Hopefully Leach, then they'll take a backseat in the SEC for awhile.

So when's Tubberville getting elected to the college football HOF then?

I didn't say he was as good of a coach as Fisher. But they are the same. They love their defense, and want to run the ball down their opponents throat. Good, old fashioned football.
