The 2012 SEC football season is just around the corner...welcome TAMU and Mizzou to the party. :welcomec: now :Bbiteme: ...

Adding two more programs to college footballs elite conference has it's benefits as well as drawbacks but for Ole Miss (a Charter Member of the SEC since 1933) there are more pressing matters at hand. In recent history Ole Miss has proven to be an authority when it comes to (Head) Coaching Carousels. Oxford blues doesn't even begin to tell the story...in the modern era only two Head Coaches won more than 60% of their games---Ole Miss Legend John Vaught and Two-time Tennessee Asst HC / OC David Cutcliffe. Archie Manning and Mike Glenn lead a Search Committee well aware of the challenges and difficult task at hand.

Who will be HC number 35?

Would Sumlin go if offered? Seems dead end to me. His stock is semi-hot so I could see him holding out. I could definately see a desperate Leach at desperate Ole Miss.

Rehire TT?? Knows the system and the puppet masters. Was the only HC (since Vaughn) to leave Oxford on his own accord.

I wish they would go after Franklin. That would be freakin hilarious to see the Candyland Commodewhores meltdown.:)

Leach would be a terrible hire IMO. Wouldn't want his baggage. I say throw $1.5m to Freeze and call it a day. He's only making like 150k at Ark St.

This, but I think Malzahn and Sumlin would stay put and wait for something bigger.

Malzahn had a good run at Tulsa, and obviously a good run last year at Auburn. But his offense is all the way down to 78th in the country this year.

If he doesn't take a job this offseason, he better show next year that he can still light it up without playing C-USA teams and without the use of a professional quarterback. Otherwise he may not be this attractive to hire ever again.

Sumlin may be in the same boat down the road. The main reason they're rolling this year is because Keenum got an extra year of eligibility, and they had just about gutted their schedule thinking it would be a rebuilding year.

I don't get why this school is a perennial loser.

+Great campus
+Great weather
+Great fans (given how bad they usually are)
+Great gameday atmosphere
+Not a bad academic school
+The hottest girls on planet Earth

I'm not saying they're a school who can be an annual title contender, but they are ALWAYS beyond mediocre. I can see why Mississippi State and Kentucky are always average, but Ole Miss should definitely be better than they usually are.

I saw a rumor that they are interested in Franklin. Would complete the Lane Kiffin comparison and actually one it up by going to Vandy's "rival."

Hugh Freeze from Arkansas State. He's a former OC at Ole Miss and I believe I had read on Volnation that a major booster from FedEx was pushing his name.
