I haven't been following recruiting as much as I used to, especially for 2012 class.

Many assumed Devrin Young would be this year's obligatory East TN (and statewide) recruit that got overlooked and never offered a scholly, in turn, causing the entire East TN Vol fan population to go on and on about it. But, he was offered and IS a Vol so he isn't a candidate for 2011.

I'm guessing most would say Cody Robinson for 2011.

So I pose a question to the field. Who in the following class for 2012 will it be? A local guy who never gets offered and you hear constant rumblings the entire year second guessing the staff for not offering.... just one...... go. :aggressive:

Cody Robinson is not from east Tennessee.

That's why I said "and statewide"..... it is a little confusing how it's worded.

I'm saying the local guy Nashville to tri-cities. I disregard Memphis.

I guess you could say actually just say 1 East TN kid and 1 kid statewide.

So 2 kids then.

I know they wouldn't be considered UT caliber or SEC caliber talent for that matter, but there are some pretty good RB's from East TN area next year locally in Knoxville. Mobley from Powell, Eskridge from HV, and Blanc from Central are very solid players locally. They probably won't see any SEC offers, but they will get serious college looks elsewhere I'm sure.

The Mathers kid...RB...probably won't get a look from Tennessee and he looks to be a stud back.

I have heard that as wehll.
I think Wille is going to prep school. There is a kid at greeneville named James hall. He won defensive mvp last February at the nuc combine. He was a Jr this year and plays defensive end . He is 6''2 260 and runs a 4.7 40time he had 20 sacks this year he prb be rated a 3 star this summer but he is getting recruited by every sec school and many more schools he took a unofficial visit to ole miss and watched them and auburn play this kid should be signed he is a freak

The best player from Alcoa is my guess. Don't even know who that will be. But EVERY yr there is a debate over 2-3 Alcoa kids. So I'll say local: Vee Hambrick (Alcoa), statewide: Mathers.

So basically sounds like Mathers is the majority vote? Anyone else that's in the discussion not already mentioned?

Next year is going to be an interesting recruiting year from an instate perspective. IMO, there are several kids instate that would be very beneficial to us going forward. This may be one of the better (if not the best) overall classes from the state in some time.

There are 3 legit RB prospects out of Memphis (Kimbrow, Walton, Robinson) in addition to Mathers and any others East of Memphis. Then you have Browles (WR) out of Jackson. OL wise, you have 2 (maybe 3) SEC caliber prospects from Memphis (Still, Colcollough), and I believe there is at least 1-2 more across the state. In the secondary, you have Alex Dale out of Memphis (not sure what else is across the state).

I know that Memphis has often been a challenge for UT given the geography and what not, but Dooley and Co. have been well received by coaches and players so far from everything I have heard. In fact, it has been a lot more positive than it has been in recent memory.
