You are only contributing to the problem by believing that a 2 party system is the only way to go.

To be honest, I don't think I will ever see in my lifetime a strong 3rd party, mainly because too many people believe as you do. It would take a grassroots effort to pull it off, but I think most people are mostly apathetic, not lazy. The apathy explains low voter turnout and the large number of "fence sitters" that we have in this country. There is a definite need for a third party, but I am not optimistic that it will ever happen.

And I refuse to play the game of the lesser of two evils. I realize what you are saying about no party can represent 100% of anyones core values, but I don't see either of these parties coming within 60% of what I value the most, mainly our border situation, taxes and gov't spending, and protecting the lives of American citizens from "future" foreign threats.

or because people like you don't vote because there is no viable third party. Please tell me sir, how do you expect a viable third party to emerge if it does not receive votes? (thought you might enjoy that)

This election will be more about the lesser of the two evils than it ever has before. You'll see more and more people having to decide whether to stay home or to swallow a lot of pride and vote for someone not to their liking but only to keep the other out of office. It is a recipe for disaster.

You are not only correct, you are indeed indicating that in future elections the candidates will continue to decline. We are reaping the "benefits" of politicians pandering to, in words and in legislation, the lowest common denominator and more voters for the next election, instead of working to secure the type of government that the fathers of our country so deemed in the Constitution.

Well if you want any evidence of how the pandering has gone to the extreme, look no farther than Mitt Romney. This man has somehow had an overnight conversion from trying to out-Kennedy Ted Kennedy to trying to out-Reagan Ronald Reagan. No viable third party can compete and the system will not reform when it is the politicians who control the system. It can only go downward each time.

Next time you vote for your electoral college members instead of President, take a look at who those people truly are...the biggest insiders and tied to the most special interests.

You think? What gave it away? The fact that in a recent VN poll a guy that has not declared is creaming the 2 frontrunners.

Loyalty for a TN guy? But he has quite a bit in common with McCain but yet no one likes McCain. Personality?

I just can't figure out why people feel Obama is qualified for the presidency?

Does he have any military background?
what about foreign policy?
Has anyone seen how he has voted on issues?
What have been positive things he has done domestically in Illinois?

I really don't know so if someone has all or any of these answers I wouldn't mind hearing them.

And that is what will sink in when it comes close to the election. People see his "rock star" status and are so bent on the outsider image, the young person, and this appearance and sound concept. When people see these candidates for who they are, they will reflect this newfound knowledge in polls.

Take Newt. He's got that rock star image but if you hear him in a debate on serious issues, he's a policy wonk. He will lose people in details. He's become much better recently talking a little closer to layman's terms. But he will drift into words and terms way above the buzz phrases people typically respond to.

Nationwide polls for the Presidential Primaries are completely meaningless. They are only for fun and actually a waste of money. But again, it puts food on my table so Mr. Rasmussen by all means...keep wasting your money.
