Who will hire Mel Tucker as DC?

He's gonna have to sit for a while

Let the Mich St lawsuit go. It's a loser-and everyone knows that upfront. No way he's gonna get hired with an active lawsuit against another school.

Maybe in 2-3 years he can think about getting another job, but the offers are going to be few and far between.

He’ll probably have to go the analyst route, or maybe an NFL assistant for a few years. If he wants back in as a college HC, he’ll have to go G5 and work himself back up to P5 level. Bobby Petrino had to restart at Western Kentucky and Hugh Freeze at liberty. And both of those guys had much better resumes than Tucker.

What about Derek Mason?
It’s a great idea. Proven track record defensively, I just don’t think heupel will pull the trigger on canning banks this off-season. I could see Martinez getting the boot. If mason would be willing to be a secondary coach that’d be great

I mean, honestly the guy was calling the UT/UTSA game. On the SEC alternate let me repeat that-alternate, channel.

The Mouse can't be paying him that much money

When you're not a superstar name, they start you out low to see what you bring. I think he's better than many higher up on the food chain.

I agree, they are always going to start you low .

.I would argue though that Mason is certainly more well known than most of the scrubs who get trotted out to call those noon, etc games on the SEC alternate channel.

Then again, I just learned earlier that Mason was the DC for Okie State last year.

Mason as secondary coach would be an absolute grand slam hire. Probably never happen though.

And I don’t think he has any prior announcing experience…it’s not noticeable. Maybe he wants to coach again, but this is a more than decent way to make a living if he’s not immediately ready.
