Who will step up and dethrone Alabama this year?

If Johnny Heisman has a soph slump then A&M may not win 9 games. LSU very possible of course. I know Georgia can't win it all but they will still win a ton of games and if they fix their defense could easily be in the title game with only 1 loss. Florida should win the division though, but don't think they can defeat Bama. Now here's the interesting bit, if UT can fix their defense, the type of offense... ok nevermind I'm stopping there I can't do it.

Look I am not being a homer when I say this, but let me make a few arguments here.

1. Bama will win the SEC again this year (pretty easy)
2. non of the current teams that are good, will dethrone Bama. (not Johnny football, not LSU)

You have to have programs that can rise up and beat them, that have in the past. To me there are only two choices. Florida is the closest option in my mind. However TN will be capable. TN is second all time in SEC titles and winning percentage in the SEC. They are the only program historically that has been able to dethrone Bama. In fact no team has ever beat Bama close to as many as TN did 7 years in a row. TN is capable of getting that back. This again is not a homer opinion, it is a fact. The great teams always rise up. Remember LSU is really not that great historically, even 15 years ago they were crap. Look at TN all time record against them.

Let me be clear, I am not talking about next year or even the next, I mean rising up and dethroning in a few years.

Wow. That's right. Since UT was good 10 years ago, they can beat Bama this year! So excited.

Use some of that and re-read his post. He never said anything about this season.

By your rational thinking and the context of his post you think we will never beat bama again...

Thats rational...

Use some of that and read the thread title. We're talking about teams that can beat Bama this year.

Again I made it really clear.

You guys don't know how to read, I said let me clear it is not going to happen the next few years, I said eventually, read it again.

A&M or LSU. Bama plays at Kyle Field, but they haven't lost on the road in about 50 years. LSU has the talent to match up, but they have a tard for a coach.

It doesn't matter which future year I said, my point was that you can't suggest that since UT has beaten Bama 7x in a row and has won a ton of games over the year, etc, that they are most likely (or among the most likely) to rise up and dethrone them. UT could be in the dumps for the next 20 years while Vanderbilt stays in the top 25 for that time and at some point dethrones them. My statement of this year was just to point out the "eh" argument you made.

A&M doesn't stand a rainmakers chance in hell. They caught them by surprise last year. Like they did everyone.

I know UT fans want to believe that aTm is going to beat Bama again but remember Bama spotted them 21 points in the 1st quarter and still had a chance to win in the last few minutes. Bama held them to something like 7 points for 3 quarters. Can aTm beat Bama? of course but my money this year is on Bama. The only SEC team with as much talent top to bottom as Bama is, maybe, Fla.

As good as Bama was last year they very easily could have lost 3 games. I doubt that Alabama will go undefeated. The conference is just too tough.

With all due respect, and not a slam on UT, Sewannee used to be a powerhouse. History has nothing to do with present as far as current CFB is concerned. There are several programs who are currently successful who have no history. The only factor that brings history in to play is fan support. UT has that. But history won't supplant Bama. Only great players and great coaching will.

I know what you're implementing, but fan support, as you said, is a factor that brings history in to play. And fan support is the biggest variable there is I believe. Fans run the CFB world. If a coach ain't winning, he ain't staying because of the fans. There wasn't any social media, internet, television, or anything of that sort with a national audience to remember that. CFB wasn't as big of a deal back then. I don't consider myself a homer at all, but I think Tennessee is a top tier SEC team (UT, FLA, LSU, Bama, UGA, AU.) I don't believe there is any "set in stone" levels because each program rises and falls. (i.e. Bama late 90's and 00's.)
