Who wins the SEC this year?!

Do you all agree with our starting 5 they have here?

It’s going to be an absolute slugfest this year, I can’t wait to see how it pans out!

About your question, 4 of that 5 can shoot 3’s, they could be the starters, or, Rickea likes to play the 3 position, we could pull Tess and insert a rebounder in the 4 position, possibly Jillian, Sara, Striplin or whomever shows they can rebound, make put backs, and can also block out opponents to help Rickea, and anyone going in for a layup.

I’d be happy with that Lady Vol lineup.

MSST and TAMU look scary. I think TAMU will do better than expected. They upset Vandy & MSST in the SECT before falling to Ole Miss. They matured and learned some grit and toughness along the way. Now they have talent. I wouldn’t be shocked to see them finish top 4.

I think the best in order is LSU, UT, USC, TAMU, MSST, Ole Miss.

We have to play at Sc on the road and they have to play at our place as well. We have LSU at home and also A&M. Ole Miss on the road. I think it is between Tennessee, LSU, SC and outside chance for Ole Miss. I would say the favorite is LSU. If we can win the home games against LSU and SC we'll be right there in the end. My starting five would be Key,Puckett, Jackson, Sears, and Wells. I like to keep Hollingshead as the backup center to play as much as Key and to give us 10 fouls at the postion because of the fouls that Key gets called for. I like Puckett and Striplin sharing time at the four. I want Jackson at the three Tess would be the person to back her about 10 minutes a game. Sear at the two with Ace and Kaiya as her backup. Wells and Powell at the point guard position.

Looking something like this in minutes in the competitive main games.

Key 20
Hollingshead 20
Puckett 25
Striplin15
Jackson 30
Darby 10
Sear 28
Ace 8
Kaiya 4
Wells 28
Powell 12

I really think Puckett is the breakout player this season. I think she is going to be a great scorer for us this season.

I hope you're right about Puckett.
I do too cause it has to be this year as a junior or probalby not going to happen, Same for Strip she has to be a player much improved over last season. I'm hoping they as a duo go for at least 15 a game as they won't have to contribute much more as were loaded in scoring at three positions and possibly four. Sears, Jackson, and Wells could be a triple threat for 50 every game. Key and Hollingshead should be good for double digits and that gives you the opportunity to score 80 and above almost every game. Most everything rides on the defense getting a lot better cause we scored enough to win a lot of the games we lost last season just couldn't defend very well. Never got much better from season beginning to end on the defensive end.

Darby is a terrific three point threat but on defensive end maybe lacking quickness, not saying she is terrible but getting taking to the basket by opposing teams is her weakness...

I think we finish top 3 with a strong push for the top spot considering the schedule we have in conference this year.

Kaiya, Karo, Jill, Sara all take huge steps forward in the offseason. I cannot wait to hear Kellie speak about that class.

TK and Rickea are both destined for the W and I think TK has a great year. Rickea is SEC POY.

Wells/Powell/Spear/Kaiya/Tess are our perimeter with Kaiya getting minutes at all three spots. I think she’s going to be dynamic for us this year in her role.

Ace is in development mode this year with Edie.

Prediction: Tennessee wins the 2023-2024 SEC championship.
NCAA: Tennessee receives #1 seed.
Starters: Key (C) Hollingshead (PF/C) Jackson (F) Spear (G) Wells (PG)
6th: Sara Puckett
Bench: Tess Darby, Jasmine Powell, Karoline Striplin, Avery Strickland, Kaiya Wynn, Edie Darby, Talaysia Cooper (redshirt).

As the season approaches, Tennessee just closed out the off-season by adding a former 5star combo guard Talaysia Cooper. Cooper a 2022 All-American will redshirt in 2023-2024.

Tennessee also announced the addition of 2 high level GA’s with paid assistant track records in the High School and College sports landscape, including a social media presence that has a larger following then LSU’s lead recruiter.
Tennessee portal recruiting class was ranked in the Top 6 according to one analyst, while another ranked Jewel Spear and Destinee Well as Top 5 prospects from the D1 & Mid-Major transfer rankings respectively.

Enjoy this season. Embrace the success and resurgence of a historic program. Ignore the distractions. These are good times on Rocky Top.
Some would describe them as scary times for the opposition📺.

Not going to happen. Coaching is not good enough.

I agree with your prediction that the LVs will win the 23/24 SEC Championship (both the regular season and tournament). I also agree the LVs will get a #1 seed. And the LVs will return to the Final Four. (Furthermore, I like your proposed starting lineup.). GBO

What I would like to see is Tamari and Jill at the five going about 20 and 20 minutes in games and producing something like 15 and 20 rebounds per game. Then I wouldn't mind seeing the same thing at the four with Striplin and Puckett going 20 and 20 and going for 15 and 12 rebounds per game. If we could get 30 points and 32 rebound out of those four a game I think were in business for a huge season. Rickea should play the three and go about 30 minutes in the big games and that could flatten out to 20 to 25 against the weaker competiton. I am hoping to see 18 to 20 a game and 7 rebounds out of her and if Tess was the backup playing about 10 to 12 could help with a couple threes a game and maybe a rebound or two.

Jewell should go for around 10 to 12 a game at the two position with Ace and Kaiya getting something like six a game in backup roles at the two.
Destinee I expect to be a double figure scorer again 10 to 12 as she won't be as big a focus as she was at Belmont. Powell and Darby can provide 10 to 12 minutes of backup relief at the position.

If this all worked out as planned then your looking at 15 from the five, 15 from the four, 20 from the three, 15 from the two, and 15 from the one. That is 80 a game and I feel like we'll be capable of 85 a game. You need to get 30 rebounds from the four and five and around 8 to 10 from the three. If the guards can then provide somewhere close to ten then that is 50 a game which is a good number.

Last season 77 points per game and 43 rebounds per game.
I'm hoping 85 points per game and 50 rebounds per game this season.
.448 field goal percentage last season. I would like to see that go to 47 to 48 percent overall. Three point shooting last season .314 I am looking to see something like .360 this coming season. .715 from the line looking for .740 64 shot attempts per game looking to up that to 70. 1.21 points per field goal attempt looking for about 1.25

The big goal is defense giving up 66 points per game needs to come down to about 60. Our 11 point differential needs to go up to about double that or 22. Looking for the team to score at a plus eight a game over last season. I think that should be easily attainable if everything goes as planned. The big improvement has to be defense and I can see that happening with Tamari being back at the five.

I don't think the SEC will be kicked around as weak or "down" this year at all. Many teams will be stronger, but I still think it's LVs, SC, and LSU fighting for the top w Ole Miss a dark horse just like last year. However, I think the top 3 teams are much closer and none are the pervasive favorite SC was last yr. Any of the 3 could win it, alot depending on health, schedule and luck too.

LSU already has a scheduling break since they only play us and SC once and we play ea other twice.

We definitely have a chance, but I don't think I'd predict it. Alot is unknown w alot of new players on all teams.

Kellie just recently spoke about the vast improvement of Powell, Darby and Wynn and sent them big props discussing their improvement this summer. Darby looks to be getting into incredible shape this summer and I highly doubt she loses a starting spot. I would love to see Jill at the 4, but I believe that position will go to Rickea (after what she showed she could do in that spot at the Americup) with Spear at the 2 spot and Jasmine Powell Starting at the PG position. I'm thinking we will see Wells and Hollingshed at the 4 minute mark. Not only should we have an All-American in Rickea this year, but also a 6th player of the year in either Wells or Hollingshed. Bottom line is we are very strong with depth at every position this year.

I would not count out Texas A&M or Mississippi State getting some big upset wins this year. Both Rosters are looking really talented.

They'll be better, but both had a long, long way to come. I still think they're both on that second tier behind Ole Miss. Both might be threats in the SEC tourney.

Anyone know what Georgia ended up with this year?

The loss of Diamond Battles is going to hurt them this year, but Coach abe's defense and the return of her bigs that came over with her from Central Florida may make life rough for a lot of the conference too. The question with them this year is how good will their guard play be. They lost a lot losing Battles, Warren, and Lewis from the guard spots.

They sound mid tier, maybe w Alabama and Arky? But above the dregs of Fla, Vandy, Mizzu.
