I still think that if CP stays one more season he single-handedly carries us to 7-5 and maybe better, and it's not hard to imagine. No question in my mind we win against Vandy and UGA with a CP-led WR and ST group.

last years team talent and experience wise, but would've beat 2012 because of heart and coaching...DD and Buddy Hackett sucked the soul out of an entire roster and fanbase that year..

2008 Terrible offense but top 10 defense, still beat 3 SEC teams.

2009 pretty average on both sides, our most recent winning season.

2010 bad to decent offense and average defense, should have win two it didnt including the bowl, our last one.

2011 good offense until hunter went down in game 3, got even worse when Bray went down in. Took OT to beat Vandy and lost to UK.

2012 Best offense since long before the slide. Worst defense EVER cost them at least 3 wins.

2013 bad offense plus smidge above bad defense still managed a top 10 win. Losing Worley probably cost them a bowl game.


So... My vote is 2011. UK loss tipping the scales.

This will probably come as a surprise to most, but I think it was the 2012 team. Even with an absolutely loaded offense, the defense/coaching of that team was bad enough that I think you almost have to say they were the worst. Keep in mind this is not an argument of talent, as the 2012 team was loaded with talent. Just a matter of overall play when you factor in what they did on the field. My reasons why:

-You'd be lying to yourself if you said Akron didn't scare the crap out of you that year. We ended up stomping them, but that game was way too close for way too long.

-Troy...... dear Lord 5-7 Troy......

-Points wise about on par with the other Bama beatings, but on the field felt like the worst Alabama beating of them all. A first down felt like a miracle that game.

-Curb stomped by Vanderbilt.

Ironically IIRC the 2012 team was the only one spanning from '08 to '13 that broke the Top 25. Though it was short lived.

Statistically, last year was the worst of that period.

Scoring differential UT v Opponents

2008- 17.3/16.8 ppg
2009- 29.3/22.2 ppg
2010- 27.0/25.1 ppg
2011- 20.3/22.6 ppg
2012- 36.2/35.7 ppg
2013- 23.8/29.0 ppg

In each of the other years you could say that one or the other unit looked respectable. 2010 is probably next worse.

I'm pretty sure we were ranked No. 24 prior to the Florida 2012 game, which we were favored to win. Vegas looked kindly upon us after beating what was supposed to be a very good NC State club in the opener.

There are a great many on VN that want, so bad, to say ...2014 will be the worst. It's really sad...yet
when we turn the corner, they will be the first to jump on the bandwagon.

We were. That's what I said. The only team in the 2008-2013 span to be ranked was 2012. And it was short lived.

2012 and it's not even close for me. That team was so inept/pathetic on defense anyways, that it was hard to watch. Made me want to beat my head against a wall. Maybe Dooley had jaded my view of that team but I never felt confident that we would win.
