That was the previous year. That split was Ga Tech/Colorado.
Yes, was going to say I thought that was Colorado. I think UT tied Colorado the first game in 1990 and many felt we had a very talented team capable of winning it all.

I totally agree. Their fanbase is the most out-of-whack between how they perceive the historical success of their program and what it actually is.
I mean they probably were a blue blood back with Mark Harmon’s dad played for them, but since then it’s been more talking than doing.

Can’t pull for the Skunk Beavers. Haven’t looked at Harbaugh the same since he recruited kids by having a sleepover (not Penn St). Cheating didn’t help and would like for Penix to win to remind Pruitt we were stuck with JG at QB.
Not a fan of Harbaugh as a coach, but liked him as a player. He always seemed like a pretty humble and likeable guy as a player but he doesn’t seem to be the same person as a coach.

Washington has the best quarterback, best offensive line, and best WR corps in cfb this year. Michigan cannot stop it consistently. If UW can get ahead and make Michigan lean on McCarthy that will be game. Corum is the only thing about Michigan that is a bad matchup for UW.
There you are again. You are all over the place now. See how this works? You join the best college fan site and a year later your team is playing for Natty. Stick around.

Not you though @MAD I know you spent a lot of years in the area. Being a loyal Lions fan for so many years gives you a free pass to pull for Michigan without catching grief from us. I think you lived in Knoxville first, right? Did you ever pick up the meat chicken accent?

Haha, honestly I really like it here - definitely one of the best cfb sites out there. The main board is too active for me though, which makes it hard to participate in Vol talk as a learner.

Washington has the best most important player. Penix

Michigan has the most imposing unit. DL.

Michigan also has Corum, but Washington's recievers seem to catch everything.

Give me "what is The Penix mightier Alex"

Why would Miami have killed them? Washington had a truly dominant defense. Most points allowed in a game was 21. Their roster was littered with future NFL players. The Michigan team they beat down in the rose bowl averaged 40 points a game. Washington held them 14.
I have no idea. I had actually forgotten that Wash even won the Natty in 1991 but it sounds like they were pretty good. . I was thinking Miami had Irvin and all of those guys, but he played for them in the late 80s. I had the team/ era mixed up.

Agree that the main board is very active with a lot of different feeds / topics. If you stay out of the EndZone forum you should be ok. That gang gets psycho crazy sometimes.

Michigan wins . They are going to run for miles in this game. Harbaughs last horray before he takes the next flight to San Diego where Justin Herbert awaits . Then well onto another Super Bowl . 44-19 record in the National Fixed League is pretty good. Especially for a league that rinses and repeats with Godawful coaches.

Yep , then he attended Nick Sabans school for broken and misfit coaches. He graduated and now flourishing at Hook’em Horny town.
He also coached at USC. He’s had three great coaching gigs at three prestigious schools.

For me, I was born in Michigan but grew up in Knoxville. Tennessee has always been my team. Lions because we had no NFL team in the state. Probably if the Titans were around when I was a kid they would have been my team instead.

75% of "blue blood" status is just branding though, anyway. A huge part of why Michigan fans feel the way they do about themselves is that all-time win total that they have because they fielded a team several years before other major programs.

IMO, a great way to gauge the relative on-field achievements of a program is to look at how good their best coach was. Alabama has Bryant/Saban. Ohio St has Woody Hayes. Nebraska has Tom Osborne. Michigan's best coach is Bo Schembechler, who never won a national title and went 2-8 in the Rose Bowl, which they saw as their end-all-be-all at the time. He obviously wasn't a bad coach, far from it, but he's one of the most overrated figures in sports history.

The maize and blue.... Hail to the victors. Seriously, that's about all I like about Michigan, their colors and fight song, which IMO is the best in football.

I don't despise Michigan. To be honest, I am just relieved one of our yearly rivals isn't in the National Championship game.

I am going with the better QB. Penix made incredible throws last night. If WU can mitigate Michigan's rush, then WU wins easily.
Something I noticed about Penix in the Texas game is how fast he gets rid of the ball. His last few possessions particularly, that ball was out of his hands soon as it was snapped. I was impressed.

I think Michigan is better team but the teams are pretty even. Hard to count out Washington with Penix Jr.

You don’t have to participate. Just pick a couple threads that interest you and lurk. Heck, I lurked here for years before finally joining and contributing to the conversations and I’ve been a Vol fan my whole life lol.
