Who ya got at QB? (For the future)

I'm happy with all three recruits. It seems like Dormady and Jennings are on either end of the spectrum ranging from "pocket passer" to "athlete," with Jones right in the middle. And all the reports say that Dormady is a better runner than one might expect and Jennings is a better passer than one might expect. I also love Jones' confidence to commit despite knowing he'll be competing against two other QBs who'll enroll months ahead of him.

Considering we probably still have Dobbs for two more years, this overabundance at QB is a good "problem" to have!

Overabundance? Ohio State went through 3 this year on the way to the NC game. When's the last time a TN qb made it through an entire season without injury? There should always be 3 scholarship qb's holding clipboards while the #1 guy is on the field. Always.

Hello my fellow Volnationers! I wanted to start a thread to talk about our current QB commits, and which one is the favorite of the three. Before someone says "C'mon! Theys all VFLS!", I get that. However this is a message board, and I'd like to hear y'all's opinions.

I personally like Dormady the best. If he stays healthy I believe the sky is the limit for him, especially given his arm talent. He has everything you look for with his arm strength and touch, plus he is way underrated athletically when you watch on film and if that shuttle time is anywhere close to being right on his HUDL profile. He can run the offense and we have a guy who can really push the ball down the field to what I believe our underutilized big receivers. If he quickens his release a bit and gains a bit more accuracy, I think his skills really translate to the next level.

I could also see Jennings being the guy. He reminds me a lot of Dobbs the way he runs. He probably looks much faster in person, and always makes that first guy miss. Honestly he looks like he has pretty good arm strength, and doesn't throw a bad ball. His obviously very raw, but the jump from Junior year to his Senior year was huge. He didn't even look like the same QB. He fits the system great and has good arm strength. I wouldn't count the TN boy out.

I'm not sure how to feel about Jones. I know he is highly thought of by both the recruiting services and obviously our staff, but I do not see the arm strength the other two have. Obviously he can run, it seems he is very polished with his mechanics. I know he probably plays great competition out in California and put up big numbers so we will see.

Honestly, the best one out of the bunch may not be here until 2016, so I'm really excited about our future under center. (Or a few yards behind him)

Um ... we have not yet seen any of the new ones on the field. ???

It sounds like Jennings isn't ready to be the immediate backup QB if that's where he wants to play. He'd definitely need a redshirt. And in our offense, I think Jones is the most capable of coming in and playing. It's just too bad he couldn't be an EE

I would like to see the guy who can consistently Hit receivers 20 yards downfield. That seems obvious, but it is also something we have been missing. Any pass over 15 yards I have seen in the last few years makes me clench my buttcheeks a little because of accuracy and velocity of throws.

Battle between Jones/Jennings. Dormady will transfer in one or two years (he does not fit in with our
O scheme). Don't know why Butch recruited him anyway; maybe he was desperate.

GO VOLS!

Please watch his film. Just because he is tall and white doesn't mean he can't run. Based on his shuttle time he is a fantastic athlete.

All three can play, they all have the skill set.

The competition will be fierce, which will only make them better, and there will be no drop off if one should happen to get hurt.

Can't have too many players at the skill positions, a luxury we haven't had in years.

He knows his own system. Almost as much as you.

Gatorade PoY doesn't mean anything. Worley was not highly rated by any service, and Rivals has him as a 3 star and the 24th best prostyle QB. And Riley was the 23rd best prostyle QB on Rivals, and a 3 star recruit.

At least insofar as evaluations from recruiting services go, neither Worley nor Riley come close to comparing to any of our three QB's this year. We got pumped about them out of desperation and hope.

Ainge and Schaeffer were ranked about the same as this haul of QBs. Those were two pretty effective FR.

Jones and Dormady battle it out. Kendall starts pushing once he comes in.

Jennings moves to defense after/during year 2. (sorry volatil)

I think Jones will be the best... Jennings will eventually be moved to Safety. IMO

IMO in order of probably: 1) Kendall
2) Dormady
3) Jones
4) Jennings ( I'll admit that his ranking is due in large part to just playing the position for 1 year.)

I'm personally pulling for Jennings because he's a TN guy; and while I'm no talent evaluator he looks to be the most dynamic of the 3 I've seen on film. Plus, volatil.

Agree, Kendall looks like Andrew Luck in the making. I hope Jennings turns into a EB/JJ type Safety

I hope Jennings is our guy in the future simply because he's from TN, and I've watched him from afar the last two years. When watching him play, one thing always stood out to me. He's got a little Tebow in him! I know it was on the HS level, but on a 3rd and 3, or 4th and two, he always got the first down on designed runs. Everyone knew it was coming, but he always picked it up. He has an excellent feel of when to hit the hole hard, or be patient and wait for it to open up. He always falls forward, he is really elusive in the open field too. I just hope his arm talent catches up to his leg talent. If it does, we will have a dynamic QB on our hands.
