Who's more athletic? Jordan Mcrae or Scotty Hopson?

Not even close McRae. I liked Hopson but the only thing Hopson could do better than McRae was move without the ball. Hopson could not dribble at all and had air ball problems at the FT line. Hopson was lazy.

Pretty darn equally matched IMO. Hopson had more mass to throw around, and he could move just as fast and jump as high as McRae, but Jordan has more fine control over his movements.

In either case, I don't see how anyone could say one or the other and also say "it's not even close."

Athletically? Hopson. Higher potential all around? Hopson. Better player and NBA prospect on leaving? McRae. If hopson had mcraes mindset he'd be the second best player on a bad NBA team.

Hopson had a tremendous vertical. But he was not a great overall athlete. Hand eye coordination was not great. Speed and quickness were not great. McRae is a better overall athlete.

Yup.

People forget the absolute killer first step and lateral quickness Scotty had.

BTW, I'm going by the bare minimum definition of athleticism: Vertical, first step, quickness, etc. Not things like hand coordination. Just for clarification.

I started this thread because I thought it was a good question. I've watched them both over the years and it seems to me that Mcrae has more leaping ability. Here are some dunks by both players. You decide on who you think is more athletic. In my opinion, it's Mcrae by a landslide. :hi:

Scotty Hopson:

It's even. I don't know why the NBA snubbed Scotty or why they'd think more of a Ricky Ricardo Rubio type than a Scotty Hopson. Makes no sense.

Ricky Rubio is a better ball-handler, defender, and obviously a better passer than Hopson. He averages, as a 6-4 PG, more rebounds in the NBA than Hopson did at 6-7 in college too.

Not sure why you picked him as your example, but he belongs in the NBA before Scotty Hopson. Hopson's are a dime-a-dozen in the NBA. You can make an argument that he belongs over some guys currently playing maybe, but Rubio is a bad example, as they are literally, nothing alike.

And I'm a huge Scotty Hopson apologist.

I rank hands higher than some. Running, jumping, throwing, catching,...McRae can also go off his left foot, rt foot, both feet and use either hand. Hopson didn't have that agility/ability with his feet or hands, imo.
