Most long snappers don't do anything else. It's a very specialized position. Most people overlook their importance until yer team doesn't have a good one. Don't really have to recruit them every year but every 2 to 4 years it's a good idea to make sure you recruit a good one.(I’m obviously joking, I’m sure he’s a great kid and player) but does he do anything else besides snap?
#1 rated long snapper in the nation, BTW.We have a 2* long snapper what more could you want
I doubt it. But a perfect long snap for a game changing punt or a perfect snap for a game winning field goal is all I would need to be happy to have this Tennessee guy... especially if it meant a win against Florida (can't stand the damn Gators) or Bama ('nuf said).(I’m obviously joking, I’m sure he’s a great kid and player) but does he do anything else besides snap?
That makes sense..I just see Saban over there rarely ever giving a special team specialist a scholarship spot (granted they always have kicking issues because of that) and wondered how necessary this position is to give up a spot in the class. But hell, if it guarantees more solid play then I’m all for it.Most long snappers don't do anything else. It's a very specialized position. I don't keep up with what he does but I bet he doesn't ignore them. It may be easier for him to convince them to walk on given the state of his program.
