Besides lawgator and ncgatorbait? Should we overlook our disdain for the Gators and root for an SEC team to win the NCAA crown in basketball?

Sorry . . . I can't do it. I know some people say they always pull for the SEC, but I can't think of circumstances where I would pull for Georgia, Florida or Alabama in ANYTHING.

Man, I really hate UCLA though and they are in that weak Pac-10 (right milo?). I am torn.

Two more reasons to pull for UCLA: 1) They've got better looking cheerleaders; 2) I doubt we see many UCLA trolls on Volnation.

Another reason to root for UCLA:

I would rather UCLA win another basketball championship (what, like their eleventh???) then ever see Florida win one.

And don't forget the favorite: 'nothing better than watching a Gator coach, players, and fans cry'. If they lose, our favorite coach (no name ever spoken or typed) will no doubt blame the crowd, refs, the alignment of the stars for the loss.

Umm, screw you... The SEC is weak too... Washington got robbed... etc.

Whatever.

Go Bruins.

I understand that, but how much does it really matter? Things are what they are and UF winning a NC won't do much for the SEC. They'll still be talking about the Big East next year.

Exactly... You could have had 3/4 teams in the Final Four and they're still gonna yap and yap about the Big East and ACC next season. They always have, they always will.

i think the perceived strength of your conference affects your ranking in polls and your seeding in the tournament.

having UF win the N.C., a team UT beat twice in the regular season, is going to give UT and the rest of the SEC equity going into next year.

I don't give a crap what the implications are. I just can't do it.

I understand that too, but again, do you really think we would get equity out of the Gators winning?

Oh, and I thought that ranking and such doesn't matter since there's a tounament to figure it all out. That's what I've been told all year anyway. So with all that in mind, Go Bruins.

Good point oklavol. IMHO the Gators winning the crown would be great for the SEC and even better for the Vols 'cause we whipped them twice this year... :shades:

Absolutely I do.

Pearl and the vols beat UF twice in the regular season, possibly the eventual national champion. the sec may have been the strongest conference this year as well. that makes what Pearl did this year as coach even that more impressive then it was.

before the tournament everyone believed the sec was down this year.

I don't disagree with that. I'm just saying that it's not really all that important in the grand scheme of things. Certainly not enough for me to pull for the Gators.

Milo, you dug through your closet to find your Bruin jersey yet? I think it's filed somewhere between Bears and Cardinal. :D

Nah, I'm sure I have an old Walton one. If it's not in the throwbacks section, it's surely in the vast Pac-10 section. :D
