Since Gainsville (and let's face it, you could've beat us), you've:

a.) Made one of the best comeback victories in recent history (that I've seen) over a top 5 team.

b.) Eliminated the "doomed" two QB system and settled on a starter

c.) Continued to play impressive defense game in and game out (Some people seem to forget that LSU scored off two turnovers deep in VOLS territory. Their offense was in check except for one or two drives that game.)

d.) Seen Clausen, for the most part, basically play mistake free and can gain yards through the air when needed.

You guys may play your way right into Atlanta. BAMA may be the toughest game on your schedule, but you guys are in a great spot right now.

I don't understand some of the "disappointment and doubt" I see from a lot of VOL fans here.

I'd be fired up and rabid about Saturday. You guys have a top 10 program, and can definitely beat the Dawgs!!!

Anyone out there feeling good about Saturday? There should be some...

It's sad that one of our rival fans is able to see more positives in our team than a lot of our own fans.

Good post.

Good post FLG8tor.

There are many of us that are very excited about the Vols. However, as it always happens (especially since 1998) we expect perfection and championships every year. I don't know if that is a good thing or not. Is it ok to just expect the best they can muster or should we expect championships every year? I for one am glad that we have a team inwhich the fan base can have high expectations every year and those expectations are not absurd. There are many teams whose fan base will settle for a six to seven win season and consider it a success. If Tennessee fans ever develop that kind of an attitude then that is the point inwhich we really need to start worrying. As it is, with our high expectations, I think we are right on the mark.

GO VOLS! BEAT EVERYONE!

Speaking of people who don't understand football, did you all hear about this sprouting up after we lost to BAMA?

http://www.firecoachmeyer.com/

Nothing like giving a guy a chance to recruit his own players and establish his style of team. Unbelieveable! :disappointed:

Yeah...that's a good plan! His offense is working so well down there they want to fire him after 3 games...so let's bring him to Knoxville...I sincerely hope you are kidding.

Thanks. I expect that we'll be better in the next two years, as these offense changes take time, but I'm still fired up that Zook is gone, and there is some discipline on the Gator sideline for a change.

Good luck this weekend against the Dawgs and the rest of your year as well.

We all bow to your superior football acumen.

It clearly makes no sense to suggest any concern or criticism. Just because our offense is in the bottom 10 - 15% of Division 1; just because our special teams are probably at the same level as the offense; just because we've played 2 of our 5 toughest games and our record is 1 - 1; just because we have 3 tough games left (2 on the road) with opponents that have as good or better defenses and offenses as any we've seen yet. The only SEC teams with lower total offense and scoring offense than us are Ole Miss, South Carolina, Kentucky and Mississippi State - the bottom of the barrel of the SEC and 4 teams that will end with losing records.

Nevermind the many acknowledgements of great defense running through the threads and the strong and deserved praise for Riggs, Clausen, etc.

Anyone who doesn't see that everything is just great clearly doesn't understand football. :nener:

Everyone shouldn't bow to my acumen...but you clearly should. :nener: (back at you)
Nobody is claiming nothing is wrong...I'm simply saying that some people have the patience of a little titty baby and don't understand what the problem is. This will work itself out. Just be patient. The guys wearing the headsets know what their doing, so just chill out.

I think your forgetting several publications were picking us to play usc for the bcs championship. Unless someone else can beat FL we arent going to make the SEC championship. The next couple of years will probably be rebuilding years on defense. I dont think anyone here can realistically expect our offense to carry the team the next couple of years. So yeah, so far this season has been disappointing.

I think everyone is surprised how nonproductive ainge has been along with his lack of production. CNNSI had him in the top 10 in SEC and he just has not been able to get over theat hump on offense. Whether he will have a stellar career remmains a question. He will once agin have to comete for the job next year.
Had we had some sort of offense we would have beaten florida and perhaps our attitude be different. That florida loss took alot of wind out the sail but i am still optimistic we can at least get the SEC crown and bcs bid.

Be patient? Do you mean until we can play KY or Vandy? We're already to the 5th game of the season. I'm tired of waiting.

If we can beat UGA and Bama playing the same ball we have been playing then so be it, but it's going to take more than that. If anything, we SHOULD be very impatient, so should the coaches right down to the waterboy.

If being called a "little titty baby" means that I would like to see our team click on all cylinders and play 4 solid quarters of football, then that's fine with me. It's better than being complacent I guess.

Just imagine what this team could accomplish if they just all pulled it together.

The guy makes great points.

I think most of us are just pissed we lost to a big rival.

I don't think most of us would be NEARLY as disappointed right now if the UF and LSU games had been flip flopped.

I know I wouldn't.

But oh well...there's still alot of football to be played/watched.

YOU cry babies must have started being UT fans in 1998....I AM 100% BEHIND THE VOLS AND ALL OF THIS CRYING MAKES ME SICK!!! I bet it was you all that were crying for Brandon Stewart to start in front of Peyton and yelling for Chavis to be fired in 1995 when florida put 62 on us, yelling at Cutcliff when he handed the ball to Jay Graham or Charlie Garner instead of going to deep to Faulkner. PLease remember one thing......

"when at first the game or the breaks go against you, do not let up just put on more steam"

I don't think we are down on the Vols just fustrated, the offense makes me think of badly jetted motocross bike, runs good in the lower rpm range( grinding the ball down the field) but spits and sputters when you open up the throttle ( taking shots down the field), we know we have the horsepower but we haven't figured out the jetting just yet.
Well... any dirt bike guy will understand, Knoxkdx?

There's a difference between crying and critiquing - oh crap, what's the use. Everything is wonderful.

Do you really want to bring the Maxims into it? I'm guessing the General wouldn't give us high grades on them - how about press the kicking game for this is where the breaks are made - (check the UF game for that one)
