I hear this question a lot since I live so close to Lexington. They say you live in Kentucky so why would you go for another team. To the people in Knoxville do you like Tennesse because you live there or are there other reasons? People like me that don't live in Tennessee, what made you like the Vols? I was raised up right in a Vols household that's why I am. This may not be basketball related, if not mods move it please. Go Vols!

I love the orange. Rocky top is my only country song in my music player. I love the power T. I love the university. I love that my pappaw introduced me to Travis Stephens 10.5 years ago. I love that I bleed orange.

That's why.

I became a vol fan mainly because my dad was. It was something me and my dad had in common and it gave us a stronger father and son relationship. Me and 9 family members went to the 2004 florida game in football. After a day of fun tailgating on my dad's buddys yacht, and experiencing that game, it pretty much sealed the deal

Because I was born and raised in Tennessee. My dad was a Vol fan and raised me to be the same. I tell anyone that is a casual football fan, go watch a game inside Neyland and you will be die hard orange till the day you die. Also, I was born with this thing inside me that makes me hate bammers and gators and being a Vol multiplies that hate by a million. GBO VFL V,B

I grew up with Orange blood. My Dad took me to my first game at Neyland when I was 5 years old and to Stokely Athletics Center when I was 6. Spent alot of time with him at both venues over the years, went to UT and graduated. Moved to Atlanta for 5 years and came back to every home game at Neyland. Now that I am back in Knoxville, I never miss a home FB game and go to as many basketball games as possible. I guess it's in my blood but I consider myself one of the biggest VOl fans around.

This may not be completely in the spirit of the thread, but I think it is a funny story. In 1986 my family moved to Oak Ridge (I was 14 at the time) and I had no familiarity with the University of Tennessee or college football in general. This was 10 months after the big Sugar Bowl win, and there were an incredible number of bumper stickers that read "Vol fan". I had no idea what a "Vol" was, and in my 14 year old mind it referred to volleyball. I just couldn't figure out why there were so many volleyball fans in the area. A few years later the Cobb-Web offense surfaced and I understood completely.

I love VOl fans that live in Ala Bammer! Can be tough in the lean years but had to be fun in the mid 90's and early 2000's. Keep the faith, the "tide" will turn again my friend. WHen I was growing up I thought we would never beat them until finally in 1982, it happened and we ran off 4 victories in a row.

I grew up a Kentucky fan because my whole family is from there, minus me (born in Nashville). So I was a Kentucky fan my whole life. I HATTTTTEEEDDD the Vols when I was growing up. I would cheer for anybody except them.

Went to UT because of scholarship and in-state tuition. By the end of my Freshman year I had swapped sides. I now bleed orange, and hate UK. My dad's family calls me Benedict Arnold. (OH and I convinced my little sister to go to UT also just to rub it in with my family)
