Why aren’t people talking about Dylan Sampson?

Yeah the Bible is only 10 commandments and X is only 280 characters. I'm shocked that VN allows a paragraph.
Na fam. The Bible is 66 books, Genesis to Revelation. The greatest commandment is that we must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. The second greatest is to love your neighbor as you love yourself.

If one thinks politics isn’t involved in college football recognition, awards, etc. one needs to think again. The SEC has constantly been disfavored for decades.

His yardage isn’t up there with the elite SEC seasons of all time. Touchdowns are close.

If the Heisman seasons of Herschel, Bo, and D Henry are 10/10, Sampson is having a 9/10 year. Not quite on that all time level for the conference, but the all time year at our school.

Didn't fumble all season until the announcer mentioned, then he fumbled the last 4 or 5 games straight.
Don't know the exact number, but he's had a few.
The perception he is fumble prone seems to be real. If he doesn't learn to keep a solid handle on the football he won't have much of a NFL carrer.

Arian Foster comes to mind
Foster only had 4-5 fumbles his whole 4 years. Sampson has had that many this year in back to back games
Hopefully it's just a a case similar to Foster's where the fumbles just happened to be really unfortunate.
Not really sure, but if Sampson goes out and godfordid fumbles that first drive or so putting us behind the eight-ball, it's probably not going to help him move up come draft time.

Nope. Only had a few fumbles in his career. He will be a 2nd or 3rd pick.
Na. Fumbles is a bit of problem for him. Jay Graham comes to mind. Might need to come back. He will make more next year than a 5th round pick.
His 2025 NIL value might be greater than his NFL year 1 contract but he would be losing a year toward qualifying for NFL pension if he came back and getting banged up toward a shorter pro career

Nope. Only had a few fumbles in his career. He will be a 2nd or 3rd pick.
The fumbles he's had came at bad times. Honestly pretty much anyone fumbles in those situations but it does not matter. He has as many fumbles 3 as the three finalists combined and that's not counting the Vandy fumble which happened after the finalists were announced.. Jeanty has 2 fumbles, Hampton 1 and Johnson 0. Only Johnson has less carries 240 vs 256.

When people are handing out awards the first thing they look for is easy disqualifiers... a single stat that they can use to take you off the list those fumbles were it. Sampson 100% deserves to be in the finalists for he Payton Award. He 100% should and will win SEC Offensive Player of the year. But he put it on the ground they didn't is hard to argue against. One could try to argue Jeantys 2 fumbles is a lot until you see he has almost 100 more carriers over 1000 more yards and 7 more TD's. Thats a lot man. Yup he had an extra game and played worse opponents.... but its not like he's barely ahead. Statistics wise Sampson is the 3rd best back in the nation. Most pundits have him ranked 6th at best in this years draft among RB's behind both of OSU's RB's and the 3 finalists.. some have him not even in the top 8. I think he is likely the third rb taken and the most likely to have an immediate impact.

His dominating and us winning VS OSU will be his time to make his statement.. everyone will be watching and the rest of the country will know who he is .. Outside of the SEC Sampson is not a name people know weirdly.

He's a great player having a great year, but one of greatest RBs in SEC history? He's not our greatest RB ever. Maybe not even top 5
correct hes having the greatest year...and he is a great player but the 2 things are not the same. There are at least 5-6 backs from UT history id take over him any day and that's not a knock on Dylan at all. Those guys are just that good. There are like 30 SEC backs you'd take over him. just going back to the 90's

I'm sure you all believed the countless players we have had that went undrafted were gonna be drafted. Like Callaway at wr. NFL teams don't want a guy who fumbles.
You have no freaking idea what I believe. He's not coming back and he shouldn't. I have no idea when he'll be drafted, but staying here another year isn't going to improve his draft status.

BTW, Callaway was a starter in the NFL
