Why can't we hit free throws?

Exactly. This was the best game in a LONG time from the line. Even got the guys we want on the line at the end in McBee and Golden. I know **** happens, but those two have got to be able to hit the first one at the very least in those situations.

You lost me at Golden.

Yeah, for some reason I thought it was Golden. I dunno why. My bad. But, it was still the guys that were wanted on the line.

I feel ya. I was certain McRae was going to knock them both down. Sometimes even great shooters miss at the end. Lofton left a couple at the line himself back in the day.

Exactly. My father played in high school at Fulton back in the day they were really good, and he's said their coach used to count the missed front end of a 1-and-1 as two misses due to missing the chance of even trying the second. I wish all coaches did that. I admire McBee for hitting the first in that situation. Got to at least give yourself the chance at the 2nd.

We actually finished 13-19 FTs, which, while not good, isn't THAT bad. (68.4%)

The catch is that we missed our last 3, all in the final minute. The final 2 misses were each the front end of a 1-and-1 as Vandy desperately tried to come back.

That's pathetic. Put the damn game away guys.

Any way you spin it 68% is pretty damn bad. No excuses for that.

If we were shooting 68.4% on the season, that would put us at 187th out of 347 D-I schools. That's just a shade below middle of the pack.

So again, 68.4% isn't good, but it really isn't all that bad either. It's about average.

Edit: I know we suck at free throws. I'm not arguing that. I'm just saying that the final free throw numbers for this particular game weren't all that bad.

Bumpity bump. Jarnell "and none" stokes has been doin a little better to start the year, but we're still shooting WAY too many none-and-nones. We will continue to lose winnable games if we keep this up. Same story, different year.

Wonder if UT could get Bill Justus or Allan Houston to make a video showing how to shoot free throws?
