Noticed we had huge holes opened up by our o/l and the running backs would not follow? What gives. These guys aren't rookies. Oregon seemed superb with their execution.

I don't lay blame much but I have felt for some time the biggest issue we face now and going forward is an SEC caliber running back...now I do believe we are getting great effort just very little production....I agree...I though the holes were there in all three games...we just seem to struggle hitting them..., But we have a couple coming in next year that I think can help right away.... At least I hope so...

I personally like Lane back there over neil. Still, both backs seem to "think" too much. I would love to see less dancing and more of one cut, hit the hole. Op is correct, Oline was blowing open some nice holes and I saw on a couple plays, neil would completly "ignore" them and cut back. One play, even pointed out by the commentators, UT seemed to have called a misdirection, cut back to the strong side, a massive hole opened up immediatly on the weak side...an instinctive back would have took that all day...neil cut back for a 2 yd loss.

Neal still likes to run east and west. It's not as bad but still too much. That won't work against the kind of speed Oregon has. You have to run straight at speed, not around it.

Like someone said, couldn't be he can't see well without his glasses. Personally, I never considered that. But then again, I never asked him and until and unless I know, won't condemn him.

our backs are no good, have never been good, and never will be.

Until Butch can recruit some 4 and 5 star running backs, we will remain fair at best.

It is all about recruiting.

The best teams in the country are loaded with 4 and 5 star players.

Getting these types of players to come to a loosing program will not be easy.

Butch has a hard row to hoe.

LOL. Are you seriously suggesting that Neal is myopic and just suits up without contacts or anything to correct his vision?

I'm not Neal's doctor, neither are you.

I don't live behind Neal's eyes, neither do you.

And that's why I said until and unless I KNOW, I won't condemn him. :hi:

Why would any athlete who has eye problems not be wearing contacts or something to correct their vision? Are you delirious?

Its Neals senior yr if he ain't going to change his running pattern by now he never will. We just need to start focusing on our younger guys and start gettin them some quality carries and get them ready for next season

I didn't say he doesn't wear contacts. He might not even be able to afford them unless he's getting money on the sly from some $snaky agent. What I am saying is I don't throw judgmental accusations at our players at the very slightest opportunity. Too many of you people here are practically addicted to doing just that. As disappointed as I may be at a player's performance, unless he's an obvious sewage for brains jerk, I respect the fact they put on the O&W, and sweat the sweat of practice and games. They don't need a fan that damns them for being loyal. Neal is one of many who stayed here despite hog pen of hell with all this coaching change mess we've had. Anything to say about his loyalty to the program? Probably not.

I find summerhill to be better than neal. Not speed wise but vision wise. Whatever runs he has had, he's shown some good vision

Are you seriously suggesting that Neal is'nt selfish would'nt play even if he knew he had vision issues and diregard the fact he needs corrective lenses? sounds like about 75% of college athletes if you ask me.

He can catch a ball but can't see a hole. Weird hunh?

Vision and instinct are not Neal's strong suit. IMHO

Good post, OP.

Sometimes you just have to follow the blockers and push the pile forward. I saw Oregon do that several times on Sat and they gained 5 yards on a "bad" play. Neal needs to stop trying to bust every run for 25. Sometimes you just need to take the 5 yards and move on to the next play.

Not really. I have a niece who dances with the grace of Alstair on a moonbeam, but will trip over a blade of grass when carrying a tray or glass of water.

Our RBs are sub par. It won't change this year so we will have to platy the hand we were dealt. And Jalen Hurd next year won't make us completely whole by himself. Look at Georgia, they have several quality RBs. EVERY YEAR.

Contacts can be just as uncomfortable to wear in contact sports, especially were you are sweating and constantly wiping your face.

So, alot of times you just take the hit on not being able to see the score of the game for comfort.

Same old answer. Recruiting has not been something that has been accomplished very well during the last 7 years. Really look forward to the next 6 years under CBJ

It seems to me the problem lies within running the read option with a white quarterback that everyone knows will never keep the ball and run with it. You are fooling no one with this wasted effort. I cannot count on my fingers and toes the number of times we ran the read option without any success. Just get under center and hand the dang ball off or run play action. That's a little more believable and may create an iota of deception from this anemic offense.
My wife thought I was a genius because I called out every play before we ran it and was right 95% of the time.:shakehead:
