Why do we not use the tight end.....

Doesn't Witten pretty much split time with the Cowboys' other TE, Campbell I think his name is? I've only saw one or two Dallas games this season, but it seemed like the other TE was getting just as many chances to catch balls as Witten. Apparently he's pretty good too.

Hadn't thought of that... but as long as he's on my fantasy team and keeps putting up those numbers, I don't care what he's on... :biggrin2:

David Boston... now there's your overlysteroided player.

lol, parcells would play a rooster if it had a big enough brain. Parcells plays alot of ppl. he doesnt want someone to be a bigger star than him so he keeps plenty of ppl circulating.

If nothing else, putting in the TE will allow more blocking for the RBs and on the off chance one of our WRs actually catch the ball. Then run him across the middle and hit him occasionally.

Too many people on here don't understand what goes into play-calling in a college football game. Especially play-calling in the passing game. Just because we don't throw a pass to the TE on a certain play does not mean he was not Option 1 or Option 2 in the QB's progression. He might have been the QB chose not to throw to him (i.e. he wasn't open or somebody else looked to have a better match-up based on how the defense lined up.

How can y'all have a discussion about the players use in games, when the stats are even posted here?

The Vols leading receiving has 21 receptions. Chris Brown has 7 receptions for 70 yards in 7 games. That is 1/3 of the leading receiver. Could be utilized more, but he's made some big first down catches this year. He's averaging 1 catch per game. Last season, he only had 6 receptions.

Yep... aside from Gates and Gonzalez, there aren't many TEs at all that can change the game in the NFL, much less college.

Witten was a beast.  Didn't he leave early?

Frank Wycheck was a beast at TE. I think the reason there are not many good tight ends is because not many high schools use the position and most people who can play the position effectively are versatile althletes who have probably been trained to play a different position.

Thanks AllVol. There's what we think, and there's the truth. Amazing how little the two resemble one another sometimes...
